Kevin Garnett talks with NBATV at All-Star weekend

Kevin Garnett sat down with the NBA TV crew in Houston today as part of their ASW coverage. His comments after Wednesday’s win against the Bulls were immediately brought-up. Garnett backpedaled a bit when Steve Smith said: “You said this is your last one..why?”  Ticket replied: “I can’t say that I’m gonna be an all-star next year-I didn’t say I wasn’t gonna play like one….so my comments were in the form of, next year, I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

KG also talked about how important he and Paul Pierce’s leadership roles have been with Rondo, Sully & Barbosa going down, the impact Jeff Green has had & what he thinks of the C’s chances to make another deep playoff run this spring. Thanks to Hardwood Paroxysm for the vid:

Same here. I used to be an absolute All-Star fanatic, but this year…I just want the C’s to get back to work and see what kind of free-agent (read: “no trades”) signings we do to finish out the season.
It’s kind of funny…I don’t know if the coin counters realize this, but there are a LOT of Celtics fans who will watch the team if it plays inspired ball and tries hard (as it has been) as opposed to it being an All-Star loaded team that underachieves (as the Lakers have been). Sure, we want Championships, but the team should be fun to watch, too.
As for KG…can we PLEASE follow his lead and leave the trade BS alone. If by some chance the unlikely happens, then there’ll be PLENTY of time to write six articles per day about what it all means. But he’s been pretty firm about not waiving his trade clause and that’s good enough for me. Let’s just enjoy the greatness that is The Big Ticket.
