Last time

The Celtics beat the Cavaliers, 103-91, last month. This was the game Doc Rivers dusted off Jason Collins, inserted him into the starting line-up and praised him for the 1 point, 2 rebounds effort.

This time

Get it to:  Anyone

Whether you use new metrics (0.961 ppp, 29th) or old metrics (Opp. FG 47%, 29th) the Cavaliers are awful defensively. Ed Lacerte could get two buckets. If the Celtics shoot less than 40% tonight, I might [insert silly overreaction here].

Gotta stop:  Kyrie Irving

Just an absolute beast at the point guard position; lethal off the drive and nails 40% of his 3-point shots. The rest of the roster really is chopped liver. Between Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee and Rajon Rondo, I’d like to think the Celtics can wear this kid down… a bit.

The Wild Card:  Doc River’s harsh words

After the laziest of lazy efforts in Detroit, Doc Rivers blasted the guys for not caring and threatened to get rid of the weak links. Will those words translate into more focus and better effort?

How we see it goin’ down

The Cavs roster got a shake-up today thanks to a 4 player deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Cavs are getting two guys who could possibly make a small impact on tonight’s game; Wayne Ellington and Marreese Speights. I’m not even sure they’ll be available, I just felt obligated to mention it.

Without Anderson Varejao (knee, blood clot), the Cavs are a hideous bunch. The only way the Celtics lose this game is if they don’t try.

Oops. They do that occasionally, don’t they.

If the Celtics lose this one, they are in deeper shit than I thought.

How we see it going down: who gives a shit? This team so ugly. Unfortunately I do care (wish I didn’t) and I would not be surprised if the Celts lose. Sad.

  • Boston4life

    They Better not lose

  • Tom

This team started luke walton. We cannot lose.

    • SamR

      Walton’s first half: 7 points on 3 of 3 FG, 1 of 2 FT, 2 rebounds, 5 assists. In 10 minutes. Absurd.

  • RedsLoveChild

If they lose tonight….the “free-fall” will be officially underway.

  • Mark

I wish we would have made that trade with Memphis.

  • KGino

Am I the only one here who still has any faith?? I know this team is capable of playing scary good Defense, I saw it 3 games during that 6 game win streak.

Just need to play that D consistently and we’ll be a force… lets hope Avery stays healthy and Doc gets his minutes up because it all starts with him.

The true test comes Sunday fellas. It will be very indicative of this team going forward. A win Sunday and everyone un-melts!

    • Nate

A lot faith was zapped losing 3 easy games in a row. We dont expect to win every night, but to lose ALL OF THOSE 3 games is really troubling and can drain the most dedicated fans

      • KGino

I wouldn’t call the games “easy”.. N.O. had won 5/6 before playing us, including a win over the Spurs.. Bulls are not easy for any team.. And we match up terrible with the Pistons right now (plus road game).

Fans reactions wouldn’t be this harsh if we won the bulls game that we essentially had in the bag… The refs call a foul or call Rondo’s timeout and that game was won.

They’ve just been playing awful of late, Pierce & KG & JET can’t throw it in the ocean right now and the team in general is missing jump shots (they are a jump shot shooting team).

Not saying that we’re true Championship contenders, but they have been playing wayyyyy under potential of late. Some fans are blowing it way out of proportion is all.. i heard a kid saying we should tank the rest of the season and go for the lottery.. lol.

When shots start to fall, watch out.

I’m ready to see this team get blown up now. Put the damn thing out of its misery!!!!
