The time KG chucked a table in the locker room

Chuck - Red's Army January 15, 2013 Celtics News, Kevin Garnett 14 Comments

The Globe’s Gary Washburn has a great nugget about Kevin Garnett, courtesy Charlotte coach Mike Dunlap.

Dunlap then relayed a story he said he was told by a Raptors clubhouse attendant.

“He said, ‘Well one time Boston came up in here and lost and Garnett chucked a table in the locker room postgame,’ ” Dunlap said. “That’s kind of what I’m trying to promote with Jeff (Adrien).”

File under: Not surprised in the least.

Garnett had a dust-up last night with Gerald Henderson following a vicious foul that involved a whack to the head and push. I disagree with the officials assessment of a Flagrant 1. This move was clearly “unnecessary and excessive contact” by Henderson.

If roles were reversed, Garnett would have been hit with a Flagrant 2 and ejected.

I wouldnt be surprised if that hit threw KG off for the night, maybe he had a headache or something from the whack.

I guessing its because KG has been in the league for such a long time and has paid his dues, but if this had been a story about Rondo flipping a table after a loss, there would be 30 posts by now calling for his head.

Well said, if a young guy displays anger that makes him a head-case, not a competitive winner

KG is immature! Trade him! He can’t shoot or hit freethrows or defend anyway! Locker Room Cancer!
Such a punk! I agree with Michael Felger and repeat what he says!

(yes, that’s what 90% of the Rondo hate sounds like to me…)

Trolling? I actually try to avoid the comments for the most part because of the asinine Rondo hate and Ainge love. But okay, whatever you say.

Actually that seems spot for what the Rondo haters say. Rondo can certainly be frustrating at times but he is still one of the best point guards in the game (2nd best in the NBA IMO) and gets too much hate here. Especially the guys who sided with the NBA for that last suspension when the ref involved did not care at all.

Maybe KG just didn`t like the post-game food they were serving on that table?

More likely that it just didn’t have all the right ingredients for baking a cake…

Reminds me of a story about the ’85 Bears (as a Chicago guy). Before that Super Bowl, Buddy Ryan told his defense he wouldn’t be back next year and turned that into a rousing, leave it all on the gridiron speech. When he finished, Steve McMichael threw a chair across the room, leg of which punctured a blackboard and just stuck there, wobbling. Naturally they ran out of the tunnel like Berserkers.

    Maybe the table was plastic

    Thank you Spike!

Typical Henderson move on that foul; in college he punched Tyler Hansbrough in the face on a drive at the end of blowout loss for Duke, causing about a quart of Hansbrough’s blood to spill all over the court. He got a one-game suspension but would have been suspended for the season if he played for any other school; he’s a jerk.
