Your Morning Dump… Where KG & Sullinger have a connection that works

John - Red's Army (@RedsArmy_John) January 11, 2013 Jared Sullinger, Kevin Garnett, The Morning Dump 23 Comments

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

“I don’t know, we have a connection and it works,” Garnett said. “I haven’t really sat back and analyzed it, but every situation is different, and I try not to compare people and just go with what’s in front of me. I just try to be there for him. You’re going to go through enough things as a young guy, as a rookie, so I try to be there for the guy.

“He’s very poised. You’re not going to get under his skin, not going to rush him. Just when you think he’s backing down, he’s in your face. Practice every day is not a cupcake practice. We push the young guys here. Our practices are hard, they are emotional, they are filled with passion. I’m not saying that they are games, with popcorn popping and fans and [reporters] sitting three seats away from us. But practices are real, and they are serious; they get intense at times. That experience and going through that, and carrying it over to games, I think that’s helped.”

I normally like to write a bunch of stuff here reacting to the highlighted piece….

Not this time.  Just…. go read that link and bask in the glory that is KG’s mentoring and Sullinger’s attitude and toughness.  It’s just all…… it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

As an added bonus, here’s my favorite line from a similar piece on CSNNE:

Garnett added, “Jared’s a good guy. He’s a guy you want your daughter to bring home. Not saying he doesn’t have a mean streak in him. We have a connection and it works.”

I know I’ve said this before, but I want to find the doctor that gave Sullinger the pre-draft red flag and kiss him square on the lips.  Thank you, good sir, for scaring the shit out of the teams in the first 20 spots in the draft.  This kid is exactly what the Celtics needed.

Given the way Sully has looked and performed, I have no doubts that his “potential back problems” will eventually kick in….any DECADE now!

    • KGino

Hmm KG mentoring him and he’s playing excellent..

It would be SUCH a good idea to trade KG and allow him to develop slower!! He’s becoming too good to fast!! Trade KG!!

This, among a thousand other reasons, is why you don’t trade KG. EVER. You fool.

      • andy

        What?

      • Larry Legend

Dude your agenda with reds is getting obsessive. Shit, move on. You don’t agree with him we get it. I appreciate your passion for the C’s but let it go. Please, for the sake of the rest of the board.

        • KGino

I have dumbed it down Larry Legend, but I will continue to call him out when he deserves to be. You can’t go saying we should trade KG and then applaud the development of Sully.. thats inconsistent on his part.

It doesn’t piss you off that he thinks he’s always right? Especially when saying blasphemy like the Celtics won’t even make the playoffs and to trade KG? And then coming on here and celebrating our wins/player development like he’s a real fan? What kind of fan thinks a team like this won’t make the playoffs? It’s bad enough defending our team against Heat/Knicks fans, never mind our own fans.

Anyways, as I said, I will only get on his case when he pretends like he hasn’t been shitting on this team all year. No one’s forcing you to read my comments to him.. and I’ll try not to get in such long winded arguments with him bc his responses are never even relevant to what I say. Just making sure other C’s fans on here realize he has no credibility.

Andy — this guy has been calling to trade Pierce & KG all year, and thinks the celts won’t make the playoffs.. and i hate him for it.

          • KGino

And it’s not that I don’t agree with him, it’s that anyone in their right mind wouldn’t agree with him. Please understand my passion for the C’s… I’m just such a die hard fan and I cannot stand flip flopping plastic fans like this guy, who jump on and off the bandwagon whenever convenient. Either stay on, or get the hell off.

          • Larry Legend

KGino- I do applaud your passion. Very much so in fact. I understand where you are coming from. It just seems a little overboard at times, forced. But hey, your entitled to voice your opinion and I respect that. Meant no disrespect to you with my comment. Go Celts!

          • KGino

Thank you sir. I promise it won’t be forced anymore, only when I feel he’s truly deserving of a verbal beat down/reminder of his lack of faith. . It looks as tho he’s ignoring me now, so that’s a start haha.

            Go C’s!!!!

  • pictureplanet

I love Sullinger. The impact he’s had already is great, I really hope to watch him continue to develop in Boston.

  • Nathan

After the pierce kg era we have the sully Bradley rondo era to look forward to

    • Double P

And melo! Call me crazy but I expect big things from him

      • LAF

same here. i expect BIG things from melo.

    • RedsLoveChild

      You`re preaching to the choir!

Let`s hook AB, JS, RR with some young “bigs” {with Fab being amongst those bigs!

By the way…. Am I correct in saying that Jared Sullinger is only TWENTY years old !

  • HoneyNutCheeriosTasteGood

Who else is competing for ROTY right now? He’s got my vote.

    • Curt

Um…remember Anthony Davis? He is pretty much the best player NO has.

    • RedsLoveChild

      Safe bet Doc`s son {#10 pick} will NOT be ROY….shooting 33% FG, 56% FT`s.

      • Chris 2.0

A couple more years in school may have helped that. I still don’t know why he split Duke as quick as he did.

    • KGino

      Lillard will be ROY

      • http://driveittothemoon.com/ Lee in Oregon

        It’s Lilliards for sure.

      • Larry Legend

        Agreed ^

  • Pogmohone

Great for sully as well as us that he fell in the draft. He gets a chance to learn from KG and he comes into a competitive winning environment instead of being stuck in a losing franchise.

  • Boogie

“I want to find the doctor that gave Sullinger the pre-draft red flag and kiss him square on the lips.” Lol…. nice. I’m right behind you bro.
