Last time

Behind Kevin Garnett’s 24 points and 9 rebounds, the Celtics beat Memphis, 98-80, in their only meeting last season. The C’s have won 8 of the last 10 games with the Grizz.

This time

Get it to:  Whomever can make a shot

Paul Pierce is shooting 40% over his last 5 games. Jason Terry is worse, at 35% over the same span. The bench is half-asleep. Rajon Rondo is nursing a sore hip.  Oh yeah, Memphis is #1 in points allowed and defensive efficiency. There’s a good chance the Celtics score 67 points tonight.

Gotta stop:  Zack Randolph

Z-Bo is having another excellent season, averaging 17 points and 12.5 rebounds. He can kill you in the paint and with his jumper. Want a frightening stat? Randolph averages 4.7 offensive rebounds per game.

The Wild Card: Avery Bradley

Our beloved ball-hawking guard is finally back after two shoulder surgeries. While we’re all expecting him to plug the leaky holes on the perimeter and nail those corner three-pointers, we have no idea how many minutes he can play or how rusty he will be. There is one certainty – his return will electrify the crowd and hopefully his teammates.

How we see it goin’ down

Memphis is a very good team. Not only do they defend exceptionally well, they are a beast on the boards (2nd in offensive rebounding). This one could get ugly.

But…

This has to be a circle-the-wagons game. The C’s are coming off an embarrassment of a road trip. The Garden will be buzzing thanks to the long-awaited return of AB. The energy level will be high. I don’t know how they are going to do it, I just know they are going to do it.

Celtic pride will be restored… at least for a day.

Every time you pick them to win they lose … Cut the shit you’re a JYNX

    • tboy

Lol, celts get blown out again. Bradley looks good but plays limited mins.

    • Eddie Allen Powe

      lol luck of the Irish

  • Quest

Luv ur optimism but watched Grizzlies play the other night and they are a very physical team on defence. Test to see how tough or not our guys can be even with AB.

  • RedsLoveChild

Very tough, low scoring game to call….both teams struggling right now.

AB gives Boston an emotional/tangible lift…Celtics will use this as a “gut-check” game, where they`ll draw a “line in the sand”.

Still, semi-strong feeling that Memphis {#1 defense in the NBA} will find a way to pull it out in the final 2 minutes.

  • Elliot

I hope they win tonight, or the overreactions about how Bradley ‘isn’t the player he used to be’ are gonna be annoying..

    • KGino

No one should have sky high expectations for him in his first game back in limited minutes anyways. Give him a month.

Celtics haven’t even been in a close game of recent, so I’m not expecting a win. I’m expecting to see some positive signs going forward though.

  • Noori

Rondo plays we win, he’s out we lose

    • Brick James

      We lose either way.

  • Jim

If Bradley’s return fits in to the pattern of this season then we are in for a stuffing.

  • cez

The coverage for AB’s return has been embarrasing. I’m pretty sure Comcast had a special segment on it (might have been a whole show!).
Poor kid hasn’t been able to play in months and they’re trying to make him into a savior.

With that said, I think he’ll play well with limited minutes and they’ll lose anyway. Something is very wrong with this team and i don’t know if i can stomach watching it right now.

  • Chris

Honestly… I believe the Celtics will score about 80 points, while the Grizzlies will score about 110. The Celtic defense is abysmal and the Grizzlies are playing much better than them. I just don’t see a Celtic victory, not tonight anyway.

Let’s hope they prove me wrong!

  • Nate

Oh please, we go as our FG% goes. We’re overdue for a good shooting game. If C’s shoot well and stop Ellington, they win.

  • Larry Legend

Circle the wagon type of game for the Celtics? In years past yeah, this year…not cut from same cloth. I’ve already said that about them 3-4 times this year and they got cranked everytime.

  • kobe

oh cut the crap Celtics get blown tonight

    • Jaybahs

You’re moms getting blown out tonight …

      • KGino

        By me.

  • Hudson

In all seriousness i don’t think they ever pick the C’s to lose right? if anything its a 2 point win which means a likely loss. We aren’t going to score 110…so if the grizzlies are lighting us up tonight, we gonna lose…if its a high 80′s/low 90′s type game…at least it won’t be a blowout.

  • CelticsKid34

yeah il watch just for bradley… then im back to not caring about watching until a trade gets pulled off.

  • Chris 2.0

The bright side…at least it will be over before midnight! Damn west coast road trip.

  • Bop

    92 points for Boston???

we have not even sniffed 85 the last three games and our offense is ALL jump shots its embarrassing.

I’d say we lose 95-75…and that is even conservative because really, it could be 104-68…uuuuggghhh that would be ugly

But im also predicting a good game from AB, 10 points for him atleast.

    • KY Celts fan

we scored 96 points in our last game. way to stay on top of things.

btw, your bandwagon is leaving without you. Better hurry up and go catch it.

  • KGino

Our problems are 95% on the defensive end of the floor.. oo what I’d give to play that suffocating ’08 D again..

  • zippittyay

Cs win by +10 points. Avery is the savior.

  • http://EddieP EddiePinckney

Will be close but Celts will pull this one out. Bradley’s presence will energize the team

  • Shawn

Love seeing all these plastic people right here

    • KGino

meltin’ like the wicked witch of the west!

  • kobe

Griz 50 Cs 41 at halftime, I smell a rout coming

    • Shawn

when is this guy getting banned for being an obvious troll?

      • Andrew

his nose was actually on point

      • kobe

pointing out Boston’s weaknesses and eventual loss makes me a troll?

  • Jaybahs

Who’s winning guys? I’m over here blowing out Kobe’s mom and she doesn’t have cable … Can’t afford it or some shit I guess … I dunno.

  • kobe

Celtics excuses: 1) New faces, CHECK 2) age, CHECK 3) mental fatigue, CHECK 4) Avery injured, CHECK now what?

    • Rondo To KG

      How about them Lakers?

  • Double P

    Tony Allen > Avery Bradley

  • kobe

oh maybe you can use J. Varnado is new and Wilcox is injured. Varnado the next savior

  • ZabJudah

    AB sucks pipe
