Enemy Chatter: A Kings blogger thinks the Celtics have a good defense

Chuck - Red's Army December 31, 2012 Enemy Chatter, Gametime, Jared Sullinger 6 Comments

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Sacramento.

Isaiah Thomas torched Boston’s vaunted defense through repeated drives to the basket and shots from outside. Thomas scored a season-high 27 points on 10-15 shooting and added 5 assists and 4 rebounds. His counterpart, Rajon Rondo was just 1 for 6 from the floor, although he did have 10 assists. While Isaiah abused the still recovering Rondo on offense, he can’t take too much of the credit for Rondo’s offensive struggles. Coach Smart made the rather shrewd decision to put a longer player on him for much of the night. John Salmons and James Johnson spent a lot of time on Rondo, preventing him from penetrating at will and setting up his teammates easily.

Isaiah Thomas did torch the Celtics, but who hasn’t these days? Once a feared, suffocating machine, the Celtics defense is now mediocre, at best.

Since all the negativity in this town sucks, I’m going to share some positive commentary on the Celtics:

Jared Sullinger impressed me tonight, already has a very advanced post-game.

Sully is averaging 9 points on 70% shooting and 6 rebounds in his last 5 games.

#1.) We should’ve invited Cousins to play flag football in the summer.

#2.) I can already see who the plastic men are that KG is referring to…

#3.) I think this team is pretty safe in regards to they WILL be in the playoffs.

#4.) If its any consolation to anyone, its essentially a guarantee Brooklyn will lose its next two games.

#5.) I think its more likely that we land Gortat instead of Cousins, however I am not positive that solves our issues.

JET is plastic. His body language pisses me off.

I’m not ready to give up on him yet. I doubt Ray would be doing any better if he were here starting and playing big minutes.

AB coming back won’t fix everything, but this is one thing that it should fix. It should let Jet get back to playing in a niche he has been really successful at.

        + 1

He makes BAD turnovers, lazy passes, poor defense and rotations. Sure he is great when he makes shots but he is streaky.

Hate to say it but i don’t remember Ray being this bad on defense. Sure he got beat, but he knew the system.

Other plastic people: Green, Lee and Bass. Green is only player that could rise to the occasion if he continues to get 18 shots a game and make more than 5.

Celtics need to start all over. There is no team offense. They survive with almost individual skill.

ball rotation is pretty bad, 4 players often get stuck outside 3 point line.

Their Off ball IQ is pretty low. When they try to set up a post up for Jgreen on a mismatch, it takes so long that the opponent has time to come help.

Celtics need to start all over. They are tryin to do so much in offense and in defense. that leads to lapses.
