Watch: Micah Downs, Shelvin Mack lead Claws to win

John - Red's Army (@RedsArmy_John) December 7, 2012 Gametime 3 Comments

Micah Downs continues to put up points for the Maine Red Claws.   He scored 27 points last night on 8-17 shooting and also grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Claws to a 113-111 win over the Erie Bayhawks.  Shelvin Mack put up 23… but that was primarily due to shooting 14-14 from the line.  He was 4-14 from the field.

Fab Melo continues to struggle, yet show brief flashes of what he can do defensively.  He blocked 3 shots in 26 minutes… while also adding 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Downs is making a strong case for at least a 10 day contract.  Those can’t be signed until next month… but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him at least suit up at the NBA level this season.

I hope you’re enjoying these full Red Claws games.  It’s a good chance to see some of the guys who are working hard to achieve their dreams.

MELO is SO RAW! i think this is a bust… he aint gonna get better without real playing time, or 2 years in the D-League, i feel he doesnt care much, his true love is soccer, seems like basketball is just a possible job for him, not his life like most NBA players…

in the first minute…. melo makes himself look like a fool. he needs to stop these cuts to the basket because he cannot finish on them. he doesnt look commited. if your gonna cut use your height and dunk. he needs to work on his post thats the only way he will find success even in the dleague
