Your Morning Dump… KG wants Jeff Green to be more of an a-hole

Chuck - Red's Army November 11, 2012 Celtics News, Jeff Green, Kevin Garnett, The Morning Dump 12 Comments

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

And nobody seemed to relish this fiesty, bad-boy side of Green more than Kevin Garnett.

“Jeff’s a really, really nice guy,” Garnett said. “Some nights, you just gotta be an asshole.”

And the turning point for Green seemed to be an attempted dunk early in the fourth quarter in which he was fouled on the play.

“After the dunk he was aggressive; he was greedy Jeff,” said a visibly excited Garnett.

Not only was the 12 points scored by Green a season-high, but it came on a night in which he played with the greatest amount of aggression we’ve seen from him this season.

CSNNE

Thank-freaking-god.

After watching his disturbingly depressed demeanor following Friday night’s loss to Philly, I was seriously concerned about Jeff Green’s mental state.

Well, he found his groove, at least for one night. The timing was perfect, as Rajon Rondo and Brandon Bass both had sub par scoring nights.

Random observation: Why does Comcast bleep “asshole” from the video interview, but use the word in copy? Seems like an odd editorial decision.

Doc Rivers continues to shake up the rotations. Last night, Jason Terry and Brandon Bass played the role of “starters.” Courtney Lee logged six more minutes (28 – 22) than JET.  I wish Doc would just start Bass and Lee (until Avery Bradley returns) and leave it alone.

Paul Pierce had 9 rebounds last night. It seems like whenever the Truth nears double-digits in boards, the Celtics win. I posed the question on Twitter and StatsAdam said the Celtics are 50-19 in new Big 3 era when Pierce gets 8+ rebounds.

      HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Well done.

In regards to the original post, I agree doc should stick with a starting 5, but I feel like Terry plays better with the starters.

  • eddysamson

Could you imagine if JG had the mindset of Darko who said he’d do anything Doc asked him to do on the court, including kill?

    • eddysamson

As an aside I just LOLed at that headline in the links “C’s hold on for deer life”

So does this mean the Celtics are against hunting deer?

Your kid is more likely to watch that interview than to read it. That’s probably why they bleep it.

Worlds smallest violin playing right now for Jeff Green. Show me more.

Jeff still needs to stop taking so many jumpers… because they arent falling. in the first win against washington he just camped at the corner three and shot it every time he got the ball. he needs to come off screens at midrange

    • Chulinho

Unfortunately, I believe that’s by design. I hate it too. The majority of the Celtics FGAs are jump shots. What is encouraging is the increase in FTAs so far this season.

I would like to see Jeff post up more. Corner 3-pointers aren’t his game. There’s already more than enough Celtics camping on the perimeter.

    Jeff give me some nasty!

Was good to see Green finally do something useful. He’s gradually getting a bit better with each game. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Although he really needs to develop some sort of mid range game. At the moment his offense consists of taking the open shot, or driving all the way to the rim and chucking himself in the air to draw a foul. Which is fine. But if he can develop a solid pull up jumper/floater he’s going to be much harder to defend.
