Marvelous Marvin Hagler meets the Celtics in Milan

Marvin Hagler meets KG, Paul Pierce and Jason Collins

Marvelous Marvin Hagler visited the locker room after our game in Milan tonight. Great win for the @celtics. Thx champ…

Very cool to see one of the baddest boxers of all-time hanging with the Celtics.

I met Marvin Hagler about 15 years ago in Montreal. He was very gracious to 6 drunk guys from New England who felt the need to remind him that he was jobbed in the Sugar Ray Leonard fight.

Jason Collins looks ridiculously lean. Did he drop too much weight?

Even though I’ve seen it hundreds of times, I’m always amazed at the ferocity of the 1st round fight with Tommy Hearns.

Hagler-Hearns was the greatest first round in boxing history!

Hagler-Leonard should have been ruled a draw. Marvin has only himself to blame for fighting tentatively all night, and not putting nearly enough pressure on Sugar Ray.

Leonard masterfully stole rounds with those late flurries. I can’t believe the judges fell for that BS.

Marvin had the ability to make all that BS irrelevant, but foolishly decided to fight like a pussy all night. Do not blame Leonard for Marvin`s ultra stupidity.

Marvin was a supremely conditioned athlete in `87, facing a “rusty” boxer, who had a bad eye, and hadn`t stepped inside a ring in FIVE years!!

  • Hagler blew that fight by trying to box with Leonard. Either way, it wasn’t either guy’s greatest moment.

Leonard-Hearns was (in my humble opinion) the greatest comeback of all time. Sugar-Ray was down big and needed a TKO….the rest is history! Go C’s!

Ah yes…the good old days…when you could watch a championship bout for free on the tube…and when MMA or whatever that street fighting crapola is wasn’t the dominant fighting sport. I hate MMA.

    • Me too, mma is crap (IMHO). I’d sooner watch pro wrestling.
