Avery Bradley “months” ahead of schedule?

This is good news, and it may put him on the December end of the timeline for his return.  Or sooner.  Check him out on media day saying he’s “months” ahead (1:05 mark)…

And when you consider the extent of his injury, that’s pretty amazing.

That just makes me wonder how the hell those arms were still attached at the end. Go ahead and tell me you don’t love this tough little bastard after all this.

Of course, Doc Rivers will say he doesn’t know when Avery will be back.  But Bradley did get some shots up yesterday… so there’s some credence to the “ahead of schedule talk.”  And while I’m not too worried about when he comes back with Courtney Lee in as a starter, I would like to see our starting five intact sooner if it’s possible.

You know he wants to be back on the court. You know that he probably feels good now. The body heals at it’s own schedule and that can’t be rushed.

Rather err on the side of caution than risk further injury.

Consider how quickly JET heals from injury. He got a broken face and was back in something like 14 days or less. Maybe he’ll help heal everyone.

  • Sam

Keep in mind this is coming from Avery himself, so of course he’s optimistic. My guess is Doc is not quite so bullish on Avery’s recovery schedule.

I think it’s going to be like Perk, where we don’t know when he is coming back and then bang he is in the starting line up. This kid was a steal in the draft with that he did last year. Nobody plays on the ball D like him. It really allows the C’s to play a different type of basketball. With Lee and Terry and my pick for break out player this year Dionte Chirstmas the C’s got plenty of depth not to have to rush Bradley back. Once he starts shutting down Lee at health point and dunking over Melo he will be ready.

Love this guy. And consider how hard it’s been.. drafted, rode the pine behind Ray. Then lockout, no camp. Then double shoulder surgery.

Imagine when the dude actually gets a full year as an NBA vet.
