Darko trains like a beast (no, really), is willing to murder someone

I’m not quite sure how to react to this video.  I guess even journeymen NBA players are in phenomenal shape.  I know if i tried to do any of these things, I’d need a defibrillator.

Maybe this is part of Darko doing whatever it takes to help and change his rep.

“I’m done trying to prove I’m the No. 2 pick and that [expletive] stuff,” Milicic told CSNNE.com. “This year, it’s all about Celtics, to show that I am a team player. It’s not about me. It’s about us as a team.

Milicic added: “I’ll do whatever it takes, whatever I need to do to help this team. So now, if I have to go kill someone on the court, I’ll kill someone on the court.”

Uh, just grab a few rebounds, maybe block a shot or two and defend.

Basketball homicide not required.

“Whatever needs to be done for the team to be better,” Milicic added, “I’ll do it.”

Jesus Christ… the guy spends a few hours with Kevin Garnett and he’s suddenly willing to murder someone.  Does the Green Kool Aid work THAT fast??

I’m worried that with KG, and Darko on the court, someone is actually going to be murdered!

  • zeozaas

What did KG do to him???

Have to like his willingness to contribute though…maybe it’s because he’s never really been on a winning team in a while

This dude just needs to be mean. That’s it . No expectations. Just bring that mentality.

  • Brian

After watching that video I just don’t see a guy who doesn’t give 100%. Maybe he just doesn’t bust his ass for crap teams. With KG in his ear and a lot more ability then the Steamer, I think we got a steal for the vet min.

  • amparan

how did he come fat to camp after this training? im starting to have faith in this guy, its just up to him if he wants to have an impact.

  • Mencius

I’m hoping that video is recent, because he looks in pretty damned good shape if it is.

  • Gene3

Beastly! You can see what kind of athlete he is….I think he’s going to be good.

  • adam

I kinda like his attitude. “f proving that I have to be #2. its all about the C’s.”

  • Chris

Darko could really shock some people. Not the idiots who will forever hold his draft position against him. I’ve said it a million times but I’ll say it again – we’re not getting a bust for a #2 pick; we’re getting a steal for the veteran’s minimum. The only good team he ever played on was Detroit, where he was too far down the pecking order to contribute anything and too immature to relish the opportunity to learn something from the Wallaces. Minnesota hated him, but he was playing some good ball for them when Rubio was still standing. Face it, that organisation is a mess. Milicic wont win us games, but don’t rule him out for making some big plays and meaningful contributions.

Oh, I just hope LeBron laughs at this guy…..

  • RedsLoveChild

He`s had 9 years to prove he has NBA skills.

If those skills ever existed…we would have seen them long ago. It`s not meant to be.

  • Brian

Sorry Man couldn’t stand that music so I added my own…

  • Reggie35RIP

This is a promising sign along with his media day interview. But again, I’ll believe it when I see it on court when the season starts.

It was said above, and I’ll reiterate it. He actually looked reasonably solid last year when Rubio was playing. Look, the guy clearly shouldn’t have been the #2 pick, but that was Dumars fault, not Darko’s. He’s not going to be a guy you can just throw the ball to in the post and let him go to work. He’s not Shaq or Olaujuwon.

But he doesn’t have to be, not here. It’s a win/win situation for everyone involved. Darko has a chance to prove the doubters wrong, with absolutely 0 weight of expectation. The Celtics pay next to nothing for the gamble.

  • Jared

All he needs it to be able to fill Stiemsma’s roll. I think he’ll be perfect off the bench

  • Slick’s Emerald City

Darko is gonna change the public perception of himself this year. His comments say it all….he’s done trying to live up to Dumar’s mistake. He’s in solid condition, he’s legit 7′ and he’s a lefty….pair that with Rondo and Garnett and we get the chance to witness his career year this year, which hopefully is the new beginning for him. I think he understands what a golden opportunity this is for him, nobody wanted him and then, next thing he knows, he’s a C! He was one call away from bounced out of the league, that’s a scary position in the ever so fickle NBA where reputation alone causes GM’s to take passes on guys. Now, he has a chance to contribute and forge a new career path without the lofty, unrealistic expectations involved. Personally, I think this is the icing on top of DA’s “GM of the year” moves. No risk taken on an asset who’s value has been depreciated as far as it can go….only upside potential here….and paired with a willingness and hunger to conform and do whatever it takes to stick around…..couple that with some solid KG “motivational speeches” and encouragement….top it off with looks from THE BEST PURE POINT GUARD IN THE GAME well, you get an easy 10 points / 6 boards per game (if Doc gives him solid tick).

  • steve

which big do you think is last on the depth chart because we have six so chances are collins and darko wont play

    • kg215

It’s matchup related, Collins will only be brought in against the bruisers like Howard and Bynum. Darko probably playing back up center, will probably be ahead of Wilcox for now not sure when Wilcox is 100% again. I see Fab getting the least minutes unless he suddenly matures a lot (not talent). Sullinger can back up Bass, maybe even play center sometimes like we did with BBD. Danny did a great job considering we had no cap space and barely any assets, plenty of flexibility that we didn’t have before (Stiemsma and Hollins would have got 0 minutes if we had 2 of these guys).

  • Brian

Here is a better version I did just now. It has more of the boxing and Darko’s victory dance at the end. I hope he shows off those moves at the end of Celtics games this year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdkTGH_Fy44&feature=plcp
