Dooling’s agent shoots down Miami rumor… sorta

Chuck - Red's Army September 22, 2012 Celtics News, Keyon Dooling 4 Comments

The agent for Keyon Dooling is refuting reports that his client is interested in joining the Miami Heat (courtesy ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg):

Former Boston Celtics guard Keyon Dooling is not interested in playing for the Miami Heat, according to his agent Kenge Stevenson.

“He’s comfortable with where he is right now,” Stevenson said Saturday. “It was his decision to step away.”

Not the strongest denial in the world, but good enough for me. Keyon might take the next few months off and gauge interest come February and March.

Sun Sentinel reporter Ira Winderman dropped a speculative tweet on Friday about Dooling and the Heat.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Dooling have to sit out for a year if he “retires” but then wants to come back on a different team?

Unless he becomes free as soon as the Celtics waive him to open up a roster spot.

Ira Winderman could be blowing smoke to start a twittersphere or rumor buzz. I would not be surprised if South-Flordia sports writers such as Ira, are just trying to get Celtics fans stirred up. But maybe there could be truth to the rumor.

There’s a possibility Dooling signs with the Heat. If not the Heat, then maybe another team. The NBA is a business and though some Celts fans have a soft spot for Dooling, he might not feel the same especially after being waived by the Celtics.
