Doc: “Courtney Lee will start… this is the best KG has felt in years.”

Recently the legendary Bob Ryan sat down with Celtics head coach Doc Rivers during the ABCD camp and discussed a few topics regarding the Celtics. Some of the items included the following:

Doc said KG told him this is the best he’s felt in “years” heading into a season
The two things he wanted to do at the beginning of last season was to make KG a 5 (they didn’t know how good Bass would be) and to get a 2 to start, so Ray could come off the bench to provide scoring (was thrilled that AB turned out the way he did)
He also said that Courtney Lee will start at the 2 until AB returns, then “we’ll see.”

I like Lee starting at SG, even with Bradley coming back. Bradley and Jet in the second string is extremely high energy. And they can share ballhandling duties, as combo guards. And putting a more focused Green and Wilcox with them is going to make for a lot of fastbreaks. I hope Sullinger gets into this unit ahead of Collins, but I think we are still going to need the 7fter before the season is over.

  Agree with you completely. I keep saying Bradley should come off our bench – play the two semi-point guards together. Even if Bradley takes on the James Harden role and gets more PT than the starting SG. Rondo can play north of 40 minutes a night with ease, but why should he have to before the playoffs? I do see Sullinger being used exactly as Davis was in his rookie season, being the primary backup PF and getting some minutes at the 5.
