Your Morning Dump… Where Rondo says the revamped Lakers have done nothing yet

Chuck - Red's Army September 1, 2012 Celtics News, Rajon Rondo, The Morning Dump 11 Comments

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

The Celtics guard was somewhat skeptical about the new lineup of another rival team, the L.A. Lakers, who now feature stars Dwight Howard and Steve Nash alongside Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. Rondo said they’ve done nothing yet and it’s all on paper.

The Celtics All-Star also said he expects to beat Jeremy Lin “pretty badly” when Boston meet Lin’s new team, the Houston Rockets, RTHK reports.

Rondo is in Hong Kong for a sponsorship event, and he trained with young players for an hour on Friday morning.

The Standard

Rajon Rondo speaks the truth. The Lakers haven’t done squat. While the media might jump all over these comments, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Clown Face would probably tell you the same thing.

The comment about beating Jeremy Lin “pretty badly” seems odd. Because the Standard and RTHK are Hong Kong media outlets, I’m willing to bet the comment was misconstrued in translation.

In an interview with Bleacher Report (yes, BR is doing legitimate content) Rondo talks about playing hoops in flip-flops and eating a live eel.

When Clippers guard Jamal Crawford was asked which players have the best handle, he named CP3, Deron Williams, Rondo, Baron Davis and Nash.

Sure, the Lakers have “done nothing yet”….but that`s because the season doesn`t start for another two months.

That’s the point! How can u predict success for any team if the season hasn’t started. There’s a lot of teams that look good on paper, but saying and showing are two different things.

We’ve got ourselves a closet Lakers fan here. You need to drop the whole “woah is me” crap and have a little pride. Our team can and WILL beat The Lakers. Get over it.

        I wish you were right.

          I AM right.

Rondo’s right: the Lakers have not done anything yet, but neither have the Celtics. And looking at the rosters the way they are, I’d say the Lakers have much more than the Celtics and they will certainly accomplish more this upcoming season that the Celtics as well.

C’s reloaded like a mother fucker and you ass holes have soooo much doubt.

we have a better bench than the lakers thats for sure and look who has more championships…… boston.

Disagreed, Boston is one of the strongest teams this season ”on paper” and personalities like LAL has may clash with each other. Still think the Heat are the team to beat.

The Lakers have the best starting 5 – this is fact. But the Celtics are the deepest team. Don’t underestimate us just yet. Also, the fact that the Lakers have the best starting 5 is not a sure thing that they’ll convert that to a championship. OKC match up on them well, the Lakers have a little bench spark but will consistently rely on 2 or 3 players for secondary offense (sound familiar?) and the Heat may even still be better – their average bench has some well used weapons, D-Wade may refind form and LeBron is (unfortunately) unstoppable if he can play like he did in the ECF and NBA Finals.

Gotta agree with Chris on pretty much every point. Something not mentioned is that this takes tons of pressure off the Heat to defend their title this year anyway because all the attention will go to LA. The West is deep – no team from that conference is going to roll through it. Still, on paper they have an excellent shot at this thing. Then again, on paper I thought the 2011 Dallas Mavericks were going to get knocked out of the playoffs by Portland in the first round.
