Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics have the best looking uniforms in the NBA

Chuck - Red's Army August 25, 2012 Celtics News, The Morning Dump 16 Comments

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

The Rolling Stones, “Goodfellas,” a Hershey’s with almonds — the classics are classic for a reason. That definitely applies to the Celtics’ set. No goofy side panels, no extraneous bells or whistles — just a perfect, vertically arched wordmark and a simple green-and-white color scheme. They rank atop this list despite sometimes wearing that black-trimmed alternate.

ESPN

Being a traditionalist, I was disgusted when the Celtics debuted (2005) the alternate black-trimmed jerseys. But they’ve grown on me, so much so that I would like to see more of the slick black unis.

I like the gold-trimmed St. Patrick’s Day jerseys, too. Although, I’m pretty sure I can only deal with those in small doses. They also have the jerseys with the vintage lettering.

The Spurs, Lakers, Warriors and Jazz round out ESPN’s top 5. The Kings and Nets were voted the worst.

The Celtics jersey ranked 10th best in all of sports, with the Montreal Canadians voted number one.

I love the alternate and never understood negativity towards it, but you still can’t beat the classic that is the regular C’s uniform. I’m actually quite shocked that the horrific Warriors jersey was voted top 5. There are so many better I can’t be bothered to name them. Though I will defend Brooklyn and Sacramento – NOTHING is worse than the orange and grey PHX monstrosity the Suns wear.

besides classic ones, i love love gold-trimmed jerseys. has a certain class to it. not fan of alternate black-trimmed jerseys tho.

That uniform (St. Patrick’s Day special) is the best.

Some of you guys wear 500 dollar 8 colored clown shoes, and you’re bragging about tradition………..Well, to each his own.

    • jjjj100

I where shoes under $100 Do u consider me bragging? lol

      • Drew

Not sure how to respond to that. But in my opinion Sheed had the Celtics jersey/shoe combo nailed. Old beat up air force ones(or whatever they were) with the straps hanging off the back. I loved that shit.

Am I the only one that rolls my eyes when people watching games talk about shoes the whole time. Are we watching basketball or a fashion show? Give me a break.

They seem to have better luck on the road when their jerseys read “BOSTON”…rather than “CELTICS”.

    • strips

True. I wish they’d bring back the classic green away jerseys that say “Boston” instead of “Celtics”. That’s how it should be, right: “Celtics” or the team name when you’re playing home and “Boston” when playing in another city?

  • Richard

The celtics have always had the BEST LOOKING UNIFORMS IN THE LEAGUE !! That goes for both home and away uniforms !!! much better looking than purple and gold…….yeech !

Like the “Boston” jerseys and the gold-trimmed, HATE the black-trimmed alternates.

  • Lucid

The vintage lettering one is PERFECT

  • greenbeand

my g/f loves them as bedtime nighties

  • wil

i would love to see a green trimmed black jersey for the C’s

  • duremdes

Are you guys smoking pot? regular road jerseys are ok but Black and Green alternates are the bomb!

    • Drew

You’re missing the point. That list seems to be made of traditional/simple designs and color schemes. I don’t have a problem with the road alternates, but tradition seems to.

And yeah, our “boston” throw backs are seriously untouchable.

I like the classic white and green and green and white. reminds me of the jerseys you wear as a kid on your school team. im still not into the st patricks day one and black trim.
