Celtics welcome back Bass & Wilcox

video via Trags

Well, at least we know Bass, Wilcox and KG are done deals. The Celtics welcomed back Brandon Bass & Chris Wilcox officially this morning. Although KG was not in attendance, Danny Ainge did say Garnett’s 3 year deal is official as well. Jet and Jeff Green however are another story. Scott Souza reports:

” A day meant to officially welcome prized free-agent acquisition Jason Terry to the Celtics, and welcome Brandon Bass, Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox back in the fold, took a bizarre turn at the team practice facility this morning when Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge opened the press conference by announcing the Bass and Wilcox signings, but added that the team has yet to reach official deals with Green and Terry.”

Jet, and Jeff Green were both present, but were not allowed to talk to the media one-on-one. I wouldn’t panic though-this is all probably a matter of dotting I’s and crossing T’s. Ainge is reportedly working on a sign-and-trade deal for Jet. However it would have been nice to have it all wrapped-up before having a presser. Very odd. One source says that now that Dallas has Elton Brand that they might not do the sign and trade. Who knows who these sources actually are so you have no idea. I know the idea of getting something for a guy instead of him walking away no matter how little it may be ( roll players 2nd round picks) is better then nothing. Another source said they are working on a sign and trade with the griz or houston but those teams are busy on bigger deals now and that is the reason for the delay. From the Smile on Danny’s face, and his DR. No answer to A shrerod I would think that there is a pretty good chance we are getting OJ or courtney in a sign in trade. I don’t think people actually realize how big a deal this is, and how much better our bench will be compared to every other team in the league. The other teams who are forming their big three http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8157519/nba-projecting-emerging-big-three-combinations are blowing there money on the starting 5 and have little depth compared to the team the celtics are putting together. The C’s are doing what the spurs have done for years and as any NBA fan knows the Spurs are always in it, and I think the C’s will be to for years to come….

      Role players. Their money.

  • Ronald Reagan

Jason Terry answered the media’s questions at the table.

So not sure what the one-on-one ban would have accomplished

If the press asks him a question, and Danny doesn’t want him to answer it, he can jump in.

Man, just looking at these players at the table and just seeing how much better our bench has become. Damn man, I’m so excited!

That’s what I’m saying. Looking forward to training camp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Me too. This is a good group. Jet’s going to be great on the court and in the locker room. Jeff and Chris have something to prove. Brandon wants to get better. I love it. This team doesn’t need more stars, they just need good role players that will contribute.

    Go get McGee Danny

I know it’s too early to say how the C’s stack up against the Heat, Thunder, and Lakers; but, I am very happy to see the organization is already making large strides to be better than this past season. As long as Danny doesn’t gun for players such as Darko Milicic, we’ll be fine. I’m just really glad that the team’s scoring, depth, youth, and athleticism have (finally) surpassed the previous two season’s rosters.
