Dave Cowens led his team to two championships. That’s twice what Pierce has led the Cs to. Yet today’s fans act like he was just another guy. He doesn’t even rate in the Celtics alltime top five, according to today’s fans. They rate Mchale and even Parish ahead of him, guys who – great as they were – probably never have won a championship at all without Bird. I blame Simmons and others who consistently sneer at the seventies. It’s disgusting.
Pierce, if you want to be rated ahead of Cowens, you need to win that second championship.

No one’s crapping on Cowens. Those are just the words to the ABC/ESPN ad that Pierce stars in.

That pic is actually from G1. Unfortunately, I think that’s as big as it gets. Found it on the web-another fan took the script Paul read from the NBA on ESPN/ABC commercial and affixed it to the pic. I guess leading the Celtics to two titles…winning an MVP award {1973}…,and being named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history is simply NOT enough to earn Cowens any respect.
McHale, Parish, Havlicek, Pierce…how many MVP awards have they won combined? ZERO

Hondo sorry better then PP 2nd greatest SF to play the game. I find it funny how much espn hates Boston they have a top ten greatest off all time at each spot C PF SG PG but no SF and note how low they rank Russell 2 guys gave russell a 4 and 1 a 5
