Pierce’s toe is fine, Ray’s status still uncertain

The Celtics held their media session today BEFORE their workout, which is a little twist on things.  But they did say that Ray Allen will not practice today.  But everyone else is in.

If Ray can't go, that leaves Pietrus as the first wing off the bench.  Stiemsma will be ready to spell KG, and then Sasha Pavlovic or Marquis Daniels will be called upon to be the 8th guy in the rotation.  They might go 9 and use the both of them if need be.  Right now, Ray's about a 50/50 shot for game 1.

As for Paul Pierce, he says the toe is feeling good, so there really isn't anything to worry about there.

One other random note from practice:  KG's former coach Flip Saunders (fired by the Wizards earlier this season) is with the team and will travel with them to Atlanta.

It's still interesting, though.  And it does make me wonder if Flip will take on any official role with the team next year.  If the C's are interested in bringing Garnett back for another season or two, it would be a smart move.

Man it would be so nice to have Ray sniping off the bench, why now Shuttlesworth?
I’ve always liked Flip, glad to have him around. He’s had a tough go the last few gigs, so I’d bet he’s getting just as much out of being with the team as the team will get from him.
