Recap: Celtics toy with Bobcats

Chuck - Red's Army April 15, 2012 Uncategorized 15 Comments

Even without Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, the Celtics were too good tonight for the Charlotte Bobcats. The C's won it, 94-82.

Avery Bradley (22 points, 9-14 FG, 2-3 3 FG) has my undying faith. When he takes pull-up jumpers on the break, or spots up in the corner for 3, I fully expect him to make the shot. Incredible.

Rajon Rondo (20 points, 16 assists, 6 rebounds, 8 TOs in 43 minutes) dominated this game. He was in complete control. I was stunned to see the 8 TOs in his stat line.

Greg Stiemsma (8 points, 6 blocks, 4 steals) was a shot-blocking fool. His best block was an at-the-rim rejection of Bismack Biyombo. The Steamer is also developing some swagger, and deservedly so.

Brandon Bass remains a consistent weapon. Tonight he dropped 22 and 9. Ho-hum.

The Celtics led this game by 6-10 points for most of the night. But there was no doubt in my mind they were going to win this game.

So much for the daunting schedule. The Celtics have played 10 games in 15 days and are 7-3.

The Celtics (36-25) are now a half-game better than the Hawks (35-25). The team with the better record gets home-court advantage in the first round.Boston plays in Atlanta on Friday night.

Come on you haters. Pour it on about how much Rondo sucks, and how horrible he would be without the Big Three. You make me sick.

  • RyanH

Rondo and Bradley are here for the long haul. Book it.

  • david

about halfway through the fourth there was a hilarious shot of the Bobcat coaches with a look like “please God kill me now” after they committed another dumb turnover lol.
and maybe this game will silence those idiots (read: tony parker) who think that rondo’s assist totals are just the result of playing with 3 future hall of famers.

  • Chris57

but if we tie with atlanta we will automatically have the tie breaker because we have already won 2 out of 3 on the season.

  • Terry Bogard

OK someone answer me this once and for all PLEASE
isn’t Boston guaranteed at least the 4th spot by winning the Atlantic Division?
They are now 4 ahead of the 76ers and 4.5 on NY. So, should we really be afraid of them losing HCA in the 1st round?

  • KY Celts fan

The team with a better record gets HCA. So we may be higher seeded that ATL, but if they have a better record, they’ll receive HCA.

    you poor martyr.

  • Chris57

yea u basically are just guaranteed to play the 5 seed…but u still have to have a better record for homecourt advantage

So impressed with Avery myself. This kid has proved so many (including me) wrong. He has worked hard to improve on offense and it shows. That mid/long-range game of his continues to improve. I also love the chemistry he and Rajon have found. They both know where each other will be on the floor at any given time. Rajon did have some TO’s tonight, but luckily the lowly BobKitties could not take advantage. He was in complete control of this game despite them. And how about Stimesma’s defense? Good Lord. I so wish Clifford Ray was still around. I really think Stiemer could’ve benefitted so much from his teaching. But KG ain’t a bad teacher either. Just a good night for this team; the bench gets alot of run, KG & Paul rest, and we end the road trip with a win.

Because it guarantees you the seed not the home court advantage. They have to tie the 5th seed (ATL, ORL) at best to earn home court.

AB is the real deal, Im not sure anyone knew he had the type of game he is showing.
The future is bright for the C’s.
Absolutely love having one of the quickest and best defensive back court in the NBA.

Avery is even getting calls on the offensive end, the kid is amazing. He should get some consideration for most improved player. Ad him to the list of DA’s late 1st rounders who ended up being good NBA players. I like the way Doc rested the Old 3 for this one, hopefully Ray is available on Tuesday.
