Enemy Chatter: Avery Bradley pulled a Gary Payton

AbI often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Toronto.

This was a quarter where Avery Bradley did a Gary Payton on DeMar DeRozan; with no Andrea Bargnani or Jose Calderon in the lineup, and DeRozan shying away from doing any real work, the Raptors managed to go scoreless for 9:03 of the first.

The score at the end of one was 20-13 Celtics and might make you think this was a defensive affair. False! Although Boston did show a panache in their defending – Bradley in particular – this portion of the evening can best be qualified as very Kevin O’Neilly.

Bloggers across the league are taking notice of Avery Bradley. Appreciation for his defensive effort is a constant in recaps.

Nah, dude. He’s not a point guard and it’ll be a fortnight till he gains the ability to dribble around with the confidence of one. On the other hand, he’s on the cusp of becoming a stand-out 2 guard who can be a yearly recipient of the All-Defense Team. In a year or two, I think he can be easily averaging 15 points and as high as 20. It’s all as long as he dedicates himself to the position of a 2, and mastering that 1 to 2 dribble pull-up/fade.
