Recap: Pierce, KG get aggressive in win over Bobcats

Led by a super-charged Paul Pierce, the Celtics beat the Bobcats tonight, 102-95.

Pierce (36 points, 10-20 FG, 15-18 FT, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks) played his best game of the season. He attacked the basket relentlessly.

Kevin Garnett (24 points, 10-20 FG) was also assertive with his offense. My favorite play of this game was Garnett's fake, drive and power dunk midway through the 4th quarter. at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Give some props to Brandon Bass who grabbed a couple of key rebounds late in the game.

This was another rollercoaster game. The Celtics jumped out to an 18 point lead in the 1st quarter. The predictable 2nd quarter free-fall followed and the lead dipped to 2 at halftime. The C's stretched the lead to 13 midway thru the 4th, but Charlotte ripped off a 10-1 run. The Celtics made enough plays in the final minutes to win.

Stat line for Rajon Rondo: 7 points, 1-7 FG, 13 assists and 6 rebounds. He was a game high +21.

Greg Stiemsma was hit with a BS technical foul. Derek Brown taunted Stiemsma after missing a dunk in the 3rd quarter. When Stiemsma jawed back, he was T'd up. Garbage…

Noteworthy stats:

Charlotte's bench scored 59 points. The Celtics reserves contributed 9 points.

Boston won the points in the paint: 44-30

If you take a peek at the standings, you'll find the Celtics tied with Philly atop the Atlantic Division.

  • Yeah, Steimsma got screwed on that T, afew other odd calls tonite. Worst team in the league (Bobcats) so it’s kinda strange seeing their 2nd unit making runs, but at least the C’s did what they had to and won the game. These next two games won’t be easy.

The Celtics bench needs to get it togther. There’s no reason to be outscored by the Bobcats bench 59 to 9. That is a major issue. The bench needs to be consistent and not play in spurts. Lack of bench production could affect the veteran staters long term, especially if the C’s have any hope of making a playoff run.
Also the Celtics have to stop blowing double digit leads. The C’s have a habit of taking their feet of the gas. What will take for this team to play with a sense of urgency?

  • KG continues to defy age. LOVE that dude. Highlights ->

  • Paul

Major note! This way the first time this year that the Celtics have won the 2nd half of a back to back on the road against the worst team in the NBA right now!

  • Paul

and it was against the worst team in the NBA right now

Also hate non Boston feeds on NBA League Pass! I pay $169 to watch every Celtic game here in Las Vegas, I should get the Boston feed for every game!!!

  • KG is half team right now.
He’s the real leader, and when he’ll be possibly gone next year (to be the richest 6th man in another NBA contender) it will be tough.. We need a real superchamp to build around.

  • Elliot

we play this team on the 3rd night of our back-to-back-to-back. worrying.
