Enemy Chatter: The Celtics blocked, stuffed and stole this game

I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Milwaukee.

Boston entered the game averaging 5.5 blocks, seventh most in the NBA. But Wisconsin native Greg Stiemsma almost had that many himself — blocking five shots in 24 minutes off the bench. Ersan Ilyasova and Drew Gooden were each blocked three times, while Beno Udrih was stuffed twice.

The Celtics also racked up 13 steals against the Bucks, led again by Greg Stiemsma, who had four. Rajon Rondo added three steals.

The Steamer had 4 steals? Damn, I missed that in the box score. I really like what I'm seeing from him lately. Sure, his struggles defending the pick-and-roll will be magnified in the playoffs, but I love his presence at the rim.

On Page 2, the Celtics may be old and tired…

They're old, tired and making one last run at a championship.

But Thursday night at The Bradley Center, it was impossible to tell this was Boston's seventh of eight straight road games. Behind a huge night by Paul Pierce (25 points on 10 of 15 from the field), clutch shooting by Kevin Garnett late and a maestro of a point guard in Rajon Rondo (10 points, 14 assists), Boston is now 4-3 on this brutal road trip.

This battle between seventh- and ninth-place teams in the East was won by a veteran Celtics team that just may be a contender come playoff time. A big fourth quarter helped Boston pull away, 100-91.

Praise for the Celtics from the media? I didn't think it was possible.

It’s hilarious and confusing at the same when ever I hear beat writers and others refer to the Celtics as ‘Old’. The Celtics aren’t even the oldest team in the league. The Oldest team is the Dallas Mavericks and second, I think is Miami, because they’re bench players are older than the starters.
I would be sarcastic too if my team got beat by so-called Old and tired players.
