Lakers a steaming pool of nepotism and nincompoops

CBS Sports Ken Berger with some harsh words for Lakers ownership:

The Lakers' front office is an uncommunicative, rudderless fiasco, and the unrest and paranoia that have been festering for years threaten to derail the team's plans to ride Bryant to his sixth NBA title while they still can. And much of it can be traced to the growing influence of executive vice president Jim Buss, the owner's bon vivant son, who has helped transform a great franchise into a steaming pool of nepotism and nincompoops.

Little Jim isn't making many friends in Lakers Nation. He's the guy who forced out Phil Jackson, hired Mike Brown, shipped out Lamar Odom for a draft pick and trade exception, won't trade Andrew Bynum for Dwight Howard, dangled Pau Gasol in every trade scenario, replaced many long time scouts and front office personnel with his brothers and other hacks, and, drumroll please… pissed off Kobe Bryant.

My advice to Jim (aside from a haircut) is to keep up the good work!

I’m wondering if the guy is a secret Celtics fan…

Jim Buss is my new best friend!

  • I think we better worry about our mess, about Danny, and about making it to the playoffs

What cheers me up during our awful season this year? Seeing the Lakers struggle as well.

People are jealous…he`s a full-fledged member of the “Lucky Sperm Club”.
Does he get any credit for insisting that the club draft Bynum in 2005…when he could have used it on Gerald Green or Nate Robinson? Does he get credit for trading Kwame Brown for Gasol? Is it his fault Stern shot down the Paul trade to the Lakers?
Seems like Kupchak gets the credit for the good trades…Jim Buss for the bad ones.
