Celtics vs Magic GreenLights

In what turned out to be a defensively historic game for the Boston Celtics, they played easily their best wire-to-wire games of the season.  With that, we've decided to go a bit retro here today, displaying "GreenLights" for each quarter.  Sit back and enjoy the outstanding collective effort, despite having no Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Keyon Dooling, Mickael Pietrus or Chris Wilcox.

First Quarter:

  • Some of Avery Bradley's early pressure defense on Jameer Nelson
  • AB breaking out for a lay-up
  • Sasha Pavlovic stealing the ball and getting out for a lay-up
  • Paul Pierce getting his scoring going early
  • Early solid defense by the C's (watch the solid rotations by the entire team)
  • Dwight Howard's early and only offense in the post (dunks, jump hooks)
  • Sasha doing his best Dr. J with the baseline reverse lay-up
  • Jermaine O'Neal with some nice blocks, charges and hard fouls
  • Brandon Bass scoring and working hard for second and third efforts
  • Pierce schooling Quentin Richardson with the slashing quick step
  • E'Twaun Moore and KG with good D on Big Baby
  • Moore with a pull-up jumper
  • Marquis Daniels swatting Ryan Anderson
  • KG and Moore working the give-and-go

Second Quarter:

  • KG slapping away a Big Baby pass, then working a give-and-go with Bass
  • More great rotations on defense
  • KG finding Quis on a cut
  • Moore with a block down low
  • Bass doing his thing, drilling the mid-range jumper
  • More AB pressure D on Nelson
  • Quis stripping the ball from Howard
  • Solid post D by KG on Dwight
  • AB with a recovery block on Nelson, leading to a Pierce/KG fast break
  • Board crashing leading to a transition three that Wyc Grousbeck calls "THE DAGGER!"
  • Bass with the and 1 on Earl Clark, then Rondo giving Bass a hard high five with the bad wrist

Third Quarter:

  • More KG post defense on Dwight
  • Pierce with a nasty jab step fake on Hedo Turkoglu
  • More solid half court D
  • Dwight smashing JO in the mouth with an elbow
  • Pierce's step back jumper over Turkoglu
  • AB pressuring Nelson, then Pierce and KG diving for the loose ball forcing a jump ball
  • AB challenging Howard for a dunk, then getting smashed to the floor
  • More AB pressure, then a questionable goaltend on Sasha
  • JO taking another charge
  • Pierce with another step-back on Turkoglu
  • JO and Howard getting into a mini-scuffle
  • Bass forcing Big Baby to turn the ball over, then slams it
  • Stiemsma stealing it from Big Baby
  • KG blocking Howard
  • AB getting Nelson to carry the ball
  • KG with a veteran version of the rip-through move
  • KG banking a deep jumper to end the quarter

Fourth Quarter:

  • The defense continues
  • Bass grabbing offensive boards
  • Sasha with a nice block
  • A forced 3-second call due to great defense
  • KG blocking Ryan Anderson
  • AB forcing an 8-second violation
  • JaJuan Johnson turn-around baseline jumper
  • Johnson with a nasty posterization on Von Wafer

sorry if the truth hurts, but marquis daniels sux. he hurts this team more than anything. i’ve lost count of all the missed shots and blown lay-ups he’s clanked under the rim.
what about the low light of j-rich flying off the bench in the 2nd quarter?

  • Boogie

Thanks for posting the highlights fellas.

  • Ace-One

At 0:40 of the 2nd Quarter clip, Wyc says, “We’re missing two of the Big Three tonight.” Perhaps a slip of the tongue?

  • Alex

Most likely. Rondo is considered one of our best players and because the Celtics are always referenced as a team with the BIG Three, he just kinda slipped with that.
