We’ll learn more about Green’s condition on Friday

Via ESPN Boston:

“Usually you pass your physical by now,” admitted Rivers. “Listen, I’ll give you guys more tomorrow for sure. But I’ve been around long enough to know that if you haven’t passed your physical yet, then there’s something going on. I just haven’t found out, but I’ve been around long enough to know there’s something going on.”

Rivers pleaded ignorance, saying he had been in basketball meetings all morning and hadn’t conferenced with Ainge yet to talk about the latest test results. Ainge admitted more results were in, but wouldn’t offer any indication about what was found.

“We will know more about Jeff tomorrow. [He's] completing all tests and all results should be known by tomorrow afternoon,” said Ainge. “We’ll wait until then to give you guys all that information.”

The Celtics need Jeff Green. He’s a vital piece of their bench. If he’s gone for the season…

In other news, Paul Pierce (heel) will not play in Sunday’s exhibition game vs Toronto. Rajon Rondo (ankle) is questionable.

Who is feeling good about the coming season?

Why is noone talking about Samuel Dalembert?? I think he would fit in perfectly with the celtics! WE have always had good communication with Sacramento. Sigh and trade Dalembert to us for J Oneal and our first round pick. Dalembert is long, blocks shots, rebounds and can dunk. That is all we need at center. Pay him 8-10 mil a year. That would make me feel like we could win a ring this year if we had an upgrade at center!

Not sure if there’s any value for Sacramento. They have nearly $30m in cap space so JO’s expiring contract would be moot.
Funny that Dalembert has not been paid as yet, but I just don’t see the Kings taking any of our short term assets in a S/T.

    trade for oj mayo
    boom, problem solved!

Mayo is a shooting guard which we have a plethora of. He would not help at all. We need a Center

i think Sacramento would not mind having a back up for Cousins (j o neal)and getting a great pick (Clippers first rounder next year) and maybe even bradley or moore shipped with him also. The get depth at center and we get a starting center. They are moving on with Cousins as the starter

Problem I have with signing him long term is he's extremely mistake prone on offense, but he is durable and definitely will protect the rim and rebound. Landry just got 9m/one yr. from the Hornets, so Dalembert has to be worth that much.

i agree…..i wonder if Dalembert would take a one year deal at around that same amount…..9 mil……if not the most i would sign him to is 3 years. If we hold onto rondo then all we need is a center that can catch alley oops, dunk, rebound and defend. We do not need a post up threat as kendrick perkins never was.

This would depend a lot on Green's health. My guess is he didn't pass the stress test and it's heart related. If he's ruled out for the season it appears they can take half his salary and use it to sign an emergency player for the season. Still wouldn't suffice in this case. I just don't see a way to get him here and because we're over the cap we can't bid on waived player like Travis Outlaw .. although I wouldn't expect much from him. Things are really sounding bleak and I'm expecting the worst.

I watched every minute of every one of those 18 consecutive losses in the pre-KG/RA year I will watch them again and be grateful for the championship we won and even the one we almost won.

James Posey cleared the amnesty waivers…sounds pretty sweet to me. Yeah it’s not 2008 anymore but I think this is some luck we should embrace. He’s got a skill set we can use, and the familiarity will help given the short season.
And it could be awesome for Jeff to get to be his teammate for a year or two. Hopefully Jeff would learn a lot.
