Kwame Brown just got $7 million

And that's for a guy who produced 7.9 ppg and 6.8 rpg last season.  And I know I've seen people say "well, he was OK last year and he's not a bad defender"… bullshit.  This is an unjustifiable contract.  This is ridiculous in every way possible.

A thousand of you voted in our poll yesterday and 75% of you are not happy with the roster as it stands.  But I ask you now… after seeing Kwame freakin' Brown getting $7 million… what in the world is Danny Ainge supposed to do?

If the worst center in basketball commands that much money, then there is no way we can a get a center outside of the D-League.

And the owners were complaining about losing $$ in the league….

Yeah, this is a joke. These owners are morons. What the hell was that lockout for?

speaking of d league, the stemesima guy (sp?) is probably better and he is already on the cs roster.

Didn’t Danny just spend $6 million on Chris Wilcox?
    Isn’t that the same thing?

BTW .. Clips just overpaid D. Jordan, 4 years @ 42m matching G.S. offer sheet.
So has anything really changed since the lockout ended because it seems to me historically bad franchises are still inking terrible contracts and LA/Boston/NY payrolls remain exorbitant. Which leads me into your question. What transpired last week (Paul/West) is no fault of Danny. He’s all about getting value and making the team better visa vee a blockbuster even if it meant dealing RR. The West deal was just too good to be true. Maybe another big move could be on the table, but it’s hard to swing a deal before the season starts because JG’s contract cannot be moved for a few months and there seems to be no takers for JO as yet. In the interim he’s done a terrific job assembling a bench that can play multiple positions and that’ll help moving forward. Bottom line is they appear to have enough depth to contest Chicago, but Miami remains the prohibited favorite to win the East … and rightfully so.

    he spent 3M for Wilcox.

it just shows that the main problem was GMs of various teams lack knowledge in basketball business to run a team.
Another example is Dell Demps, sure he got the best players in a blockbuster deal but will cost them a large payroll which a small market team cannot finance in a year or two.
We’re lucky with Danny because he has a business sense keeping the team profitable, an eye for talent, knows how to weigh risk and reward building a team.
