Your Morning Dump… Where the end-to-lockout optimism has me giddy

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

I say there's a 75 to 80 percent chance the season starts on time Nov. 1. Nearly 12 minutes of audio from LA radio: http://bit.ly/qlMHDf

And then there's the case of the now-deleted tweet that union vice president Roger Mason Jr. might or might not have made Wednesday, saying it looks like there will be a season after all. (Mason says his phone was hacked.)

Fisher was asked whether Mason made the comment with knowledge of the talks or not. Fisher's first answer was, "I'm not sure, to be honest."

He then went on to explain that it was an "alleged tweet" and an investigation is under way into what exactly happened with Mason's phone Wednesday — perhaps it was hacked. Fisher added that certainly now Mason has been fully informed about the state of talks.

But you see how he answered that initially, saying, "I'm not sure"? From where Fisher is sitting, in other words, someone with real knowledge of the talks might tweet something like that. If the talks weren't going well, very well even, that'd be impossible.

In the span of a week, we've gone from doom-and-gloom to multiple reports of optimism. Amazing what actual negotiating can do for a labor disagreement.

Mason's tweet seals the deal for me. The phone hacked story is garbage.

Talks resume Tuesday. Fingers crossed.
