Ultimate 1-on-1: Rajon Rondo vs. John Havlicek

1-on-1 Ray Allen had a very easy time with Sam Jones yesterday, taking 86% of the vote.  I had an inkling that Ray would take it easily, even though it's a much closer matchup than people realize.  Fact is, few of us have seen Sam Jones play, so this matchup turned into a blow out.

Ray will find out his next opponent next week when White Bracket top seed Paul Pierce takes on Tiny Archibald.  In the meantime, we move on to our "Hondo-Rondo" matchup, with the winner moving on to face Kevin McHale.

(3) John Havlicek
1-on-1 Advantage:  Scoring, Defense.  Havlicek is one of the greatest players in NBA history and is know for an undying tenacity on both ends of the floor.  He is the Celtics all-time leading scorer, but he also averaged more than six rebounds a game.  In a 1-on-1 situation, Havlicek will score from anywhere, and he'll defend whomever he faces with ferocity.

1-on-1 Disadvantage: Size.  At 6'5", 203 pounds, a bigger guy can back him down.  Taller player with good mid-range games will be very hard for him to defend.

(14) Rajon Rondo:

1-on-1 Advantage:  Speed, defense.  With no help defense in a 1-on-1 game, Rondo's speed becomes an even bigger advantage than usual.  A quick first step and superior ball-handling ability get him past most defenders and he has that uncanny knack for spinning balls off the backboard for layups.  He can also be a tenacious on-ball defender, assuming he doesn't go for the steal every time.

1-on-1 Disadvantage:  Shooting, size.  His unreliable jumper may fail him if defenders sag off him.  He's a good rebounder in 5-on-5 games because he can get lost in the shuffle.  That won't apply here as he's the only player that needs to be boxed out.  Missing early J's could hurt him terribly in this make-it, take-it game.

if there is a season this year i think danny anige should put some serious thought into trading rondo jeff green big baby (sign and trade) our two first round picks next year and maybe jermiane for dwight howard. Both sides are happy as we get dwight whos leaving orlando anyway and orlando gets two young stars along with picks its a win win
