RedsArmy Rewind: 1974 NBA Championship Game 7

It was the season that the Celtics had returned to championship glory.  After the retirements of Bill Russell and Sam Jones following the 1969 season in which they won an amazing 11 titles in 13 years, the Celtics naturally experienced some down time.  The wait didn't last nearly that long as they became contenders again during the 1972-1973 campaign, but lost in the Eastern Conference Finals when John Havlicek injured his shoulder against the New York Knicks.

The following season, they were matched up in the 1974 NBA Finals against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson (in his final NBA season) and the Milwaukee Bucks.  The Bucks won a tight game 6 at the Boston Garden to force a Game 7 at home, in Milwaukee.  The Celtics came out of the gates on fire, but the two teams went back and forth until the second half where the C's took control and won their 12th title going away.

Recently, this black & white telecast of game 7 had been uploaded to youtube, and synced up with Johnny Most's play-by-play!  It's a fantastic video to watch and if you listen closely to a few moments, you can hear Johnny's "BANG!" call on a made basket.  Clearly ABC broadcaster Mike Breen stole this from Johnny, but Johnny does it much better!  (ok kidding on that part, I have no idea if Breen stole it from him… but Johnny does it better for sure).  Enjoy:
