On Friday, former Ozen boys basketball player Kendrick Perkins will host a celebrity basketball game featuring five fellow professional basketball players. The game will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Ozen High School. Perkins, a 6-foot-10 center for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is expected to be joined by Oklahoma City teammates Kevin Durant, James Harden and Eric Maynor along with Milwaukee Bucks guard Stephen Jackson and Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo.
The game will conclude Perkins' second annual basketball camp which will be held this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Ozen for kids ages 10 to 18.
Our boy Jay tweeted out that screen cap yesterday. Seems even the folk in Beaumont can't accept that he's been traded.
Rajon will be there, but I don't think he'll play much, if at all really. His elbow is feeling better… but I don't know if he's ready to play yet.
In other news: Doc's heading to China with his son Austin as part of a barnstorming tour of Dukies. The running theme behind everyone's posting of this news is "will Doc end up getting fined" because a few active NBA'ers, including potential C's target Grant Hill, will be there. I think there are enough dark alleys and hidden rooms where Doc can slip into to recruit Grant Hill without being seen.
Oh, I can hear you already. "WE NEED TO GET YOUNGER!!" Yeah, I know that. But we're not getting younger with minimum wage guys and that's all the C's are going to be able to get. The C's cap situation isn't great. The choices are limited.
