Recap: Cs put second half squeeze on Philly

Warning: This is a mail-in blog job. I just couldn't get into this game. Think Celtics vs Bobcats from a few weeks ago.

Not sure how much credit to give the Celtics defense, but Philadelphia's offense was brutal in the second half. They managed just 32 points. Every time I looked up (from my intense text conversation with a friend regarding my top 5 – more on that later), they were throwing the ball out of bounds or jacking up airballs.

Rajon Rondo (16 points, 13 assists, 4 rebounds in 32 minutes) is finding his groove again. The Celtics offense was efficient – 52% FG and 29 assists.

Jermaine O'Neal (9 points, 3 rebounds) is looking more comfortable, too

A balanced effort from the bench. Delonte, Nads, Jeff Green and Baby contributed 29 points. In his first game since talking about improving his rebounding, Green led the team with 7 boards. He also had one spectacular block to close out the game.

Kevin Garnett played only 24 minutes.

Box score | Recap

For those who need to know, my top 5 – Kim Kardashian, Natalie Portman (I'm an intellectual), Minka Kelly, Marissa Miller and a chick to be named later.

  • I thought I over heard on the post game show once, that is the Cs score 99 points in a win, you get a free coffee at dunkin the next day…am I imagining that?

  • The second half was as close to the old Celtics as I’ve seen in awhile, including good contributions from Green – who played well on both ends – and Krstic. Apologies to the Perkins Obsessors.

  • Not Dunkin… Cumberland Farms.
I think you have to log on their website for a coupon

  • I suggest Olivia Wilde to round out your Top 5. The rest though are solid choices, especially the Minka Kelly decision, a girl whose often overlooked.

  • Kim Kardashian? Really? must fancy yourself an ass man

  • Jessica Alba,Jessica Biel,Scarlett Johansson,Megan Fox, and Rachel Hunter (old school but still has it)!

  • More excellent choices…

  • D

Minka is always overlooked. However there is a pretty funny website called where she made the Final Four of TV girlfriends.

  • The most ecouraging thing about this game is no-one played more than 35 mins in a potential first round preview, hoping for Lakers loss tonight, and we can retake HCA if we are to meet in the play-offs, not too worried about Chicago no more…. Really not all that worried about anybody in the EAST…. Of the 7 other Eastern Conference play-off teams, the Celtics are 17-5 against them all, only lossing 1 to Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, Indiana, and Philly all on their court… we shouldnt have to see Atlanta, Indiana, Orlando, or Philly if we can get that #2 seed, meaning if we beat Miami on Sunday, and win 3 other games, we clinch that #2 seed, we’ve already won 1 of those 3 tonight.. which would make us 8-1 against our potential performance, just a little statistics on why not to be too worried about #1 seed, and just get healthy

  • Banner18, I don’t know if you got a chance to see this before, so I figured I’d post this again buddy 😉 : Have a good one!
appreciate you telling me how big of a fan I am. You and I are very close, so you do know a ton about me to judge how much I know of the sport and this. I also watched every preseason and summer league game, that means nothing. I don’t consider that to make me more or less of a Celtic fan. I bet those 8 extra games you watch per year give you a VAST knowledge of the team that I am totally unaware of. That Washington Wizards game I missed back in December to study for my exam? Shit, that really showed you something about this team didn’t it? Makes you a better fan than I am, that’s for sure. I’m a die hard fan, but also a college student-athlete, so those 8 extra games you get to watch I don’t have time for. Guess that was where I missed the part about Krstic being solid. There is absolutely no chance the Celtics win an NBA championship with Krstic starting at center. It’s called being realistic. First off, he hasn’t played well offensively. Second, I couldn’t care less about offense with this team. This team used to be able to fall back on something when the offense was sputtering: tough minded, physical defense. Now they have to find that again, and it will be with the 2 O’Neals…NOT Krstic. He simply doesn’t have what it takes to battle in the post for a 7 game series…why do you think Oklahoma City let him go? Btw, next time you try to claim to me that you know more about BASKETBALL than I do….stay away from the Red Sox references….I don’t know anything about nor do I give a shit about baseball.
Get your head out of your ass man, I’m not trying to compare myself to any other Celtics fan. I’m just telling it how I see it as a knowledgeable student of the game, and a die hard Celtics fan. Thanks for the personal attack though, hope you proved it to yourself that you’re their #1 guy.

  • i didnt get to see the first half of the game or half the third quarter but i was very impressed with the bench in the end of the third beginnign of the 4th quarter. They played GREAT D rebounded well and played good on offense. They looked much more comfortable on both sides of the court andit finally looks like theyre playing basketball instead of just runnign the plays and goign through the motions. A few times instead of runnign a play they jsut gave it to the msimatch or let someone go one on one with their guy and for the most part it worked. Kristic looked alot more comfortable on offense and it seems as if the 2nd unit is starting to develop some chemistry together. Finally the bench looked like a championship caliber bench. i also like the idea of jeff green getting small forwards on him and posting him up with that deadly hook.

  • I’m surprised you didn’t get into this one, with the fast pace and ball movement. Good to see that we can take care of the Sixers if need be.
And have you considered Jennifer Garner?

  • Jake-
Krstic will be okay. Stop reposting your hurt feelings.

  • Im with Tommy tonight…get Green the ball. let him score. Hes got game, just needs to feel comfortable showing it.
Impressed with JO. We look much better with a real center in there. Hope he stays fit and is ready mentally come the playoffs.
    For me, its Sasha Grey.
What? Shes a classy actress. Ever see that Soderberg movie? Brilliant.

  • My respect for you just went up with that Natalie Portman choice. Unlike other stars who use their fame to get into an ivy league (The Olsen twins, the Hermione girl from Harry Potter, Claire Danes (who actually used her Grandpa who was the Dean of Princeton), etc, Natalie actually extended her education after graduating Harvard. She’s the only one who actually has talent too (out of that list).

  • she sure knows how to handle a load of…ahhh…work.

  • Wrong blog, dude. The Krstic hate is elsewhere. Guy will help us win in the playoffs – which is more than I can say for The King of the Illegal Screen.

  • Yeah…. that’s all well and good… but I’m pretty sure she’s not on Chuck’s list for her brains.

  • Since we’re sharing: Sofia Vergara, Eva Mendes & Stacy Keibler are my absolute, written in sharpie top 3. Maria Menounos is in there as my Greek obsession holding on to the #4 spot. And my wild card #5 right now is Mila Kunis.

  • I’m sure it wasn’t either; seeing that he had Kim Kardashian on there and I’m sure she has never utter a single intelligent sentence in her life. So Natalie is gorgeous, incredibly intelligent, and incredibly talented. She should be in more top 5 lists.

  • I’m sure it’s not the reason either, seeing that he has Kim Kardashian on there and I’m pretty sure she has never utter a single intelligent sentence in her life. So Natalie is beautiful, classy, incredibly intelligent & incredibly talented; she should be in more top 5 lists.
