C’s on Shaq: “Don’t expect him any time soon”

The right Achilles tendon injury that O'Neal suffered last month is healing fine, but now he's once again bothered by some right foot soreness.

Now it's to the point where the Celtics have no idea when the 7-foot-1 center who turned 39 years old today, will return to action.

When asked about O'Neal and a likely return date, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers acknowledged he had no idea.

"He (O'Neal) worked out with us the other day," Rivers said. "Some of the pain returned."

Rivers spoke with Ed Lacerte, the team's head trainer.

"Eddie just said don't expect him anytime soon," Rivers said

Oh boy.  This isn't good.

The Perkins trade will look a whole hell of a lot better if we can get this guy healthy.  I'm starting to wonder that's going to happen.

Oh hey… happy 39th birthday, Shaq.

I think he’s fine, the swellness in his foot just came out of nowhere, and they want to be cautious, but if indeed this is serious, then the need for JO to be back ASAP becomes vital….

On a lighter note, the Miami Heat players were crying in the locker room after the game.

We seem to be doing pretty good in Shaq’s absence…maybe the team is just letting his old body rest a bit more until we lose a few. That would make sense to me if that was the case.

Delonte, Baby then Shaq. That’s the order of importance of returning players. And I swapped the first two back and forth a few times. Like I said before, Shaq has 30 games left in him this year and it will come starting in April.

Mike Gorman said during the Warriors game, that when Shaq originally went out, he expected Shaq to come back around April 1st. It’s possible that this is a pre-arranged PJ Brown, just be ready for the playoffs thing. At least that’s what I keep telling myself:
Here’s the mantra. Repeat after me:
Don’t panic, we just need Shaq for the playoffs, Don’t panic, we just need Shaq for the playoffs, Don’t Panic . . .
