Trade brings Perk to tears

The Globe's Gary Washburn spoke with Nate Robinson about the trade with Oklahoma City. Here's what Nate had to say about Perk:

Nate on KPerkins: "He's taking it pretty hard because he's been here 8 years. He was real emotional, crying. I feel bad for him.

He's been in real tied in with Rondo and other guys on the team. I feel his pain.

With Perk, everybody thinks he's mean because of how he looks but he's a soft giant. He has a good heart. He's a good person.

I told him he's not alone. We're going (to OKC) together. It's not like you'll be by yourself, you got me right by your side. We're going to make it work together."

Aw man, I really feel for Perk. These guys are well aware of the business side of the league, but sometimes it's impossible not to get emotionally attached to your team, teammates and city.

We wish you nothing but the best of luck Perk.

I like this move less and less.
I think Danny totally underestimated Perk’s willingness to re-sign with Boston next year, even if it meant taking less than some other teams were offering.
Top teams shouldn’t be making major moves when they’re in the thick of a championship run.

Guy proved he would run through a wall for this franchise with his dedication to come back from a devastating injury well ahead of schedule.
Damn…I still can’t believe it. WTF!

Perk is going to a young, good team on the rise with rabid fans who appear to be intelligent enough to love him (not like we do, though). He’s closer to Texas, too, which is maybe a nice silver lining to him? At least Danny didn’t exile him to someplace awful.
    But this still sucks.
Remember last year, right after the trade deadline, Dickerson was doing a postgame interview with Perk and joked that he’d heard Perk was on the block. For a fraction of a second he looked concerned… then pissed… then remembered that putting up with Dickerson is in the job description and said “no, I’m a Celtic for life?”
That was how it was supposed to be.
Danny can’t not know that that was Perk’s attitude. He can’t not know that the team was on pace for the title and he just threw a wrench into it.
So what is it that he DOES know that none of us do? There better be something…

They seemingly had the championship in the bag. So what if Perk leaves after? They could have done a sign/trade. Kristic is free after this year, and Green is a resticted free agent. They didnt exactly get fair value for a top rated defensive center. Ainge got fleeced today, twice.
I cant imagine Doc signing off on this BS.

Almost brings me to tears too. He’s my favorite Celtic (was). But green will be more valuable against Miami, Chicago, NYK, but not Orlando. It’s up to the big fella and team defense if we meet howard in the 2nd round. Perk and TA together again.

What did Perk say just this morning?
    http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4681038/amidst-deadline-chaos-cs-maintain-focus
Celtics center Kendrick Perkins suggested at shootaround that he’ll wait “five or six” days to let a mild sprain of his left MCL heal, but hoped to return before the end of Boston’s four-game road trip.
“No, I might play in one of these games,” said Perkins. Asked if he was serious, he added emphatically, “Yeah, I’m a Celtic, man.”
Perk embodied what this franchise is all about. I still can’t believe this. Did Danny panic? Is Danny more concerned about the C’s being competitive (and ensuring his own job security) long-term than winning #18 this year?

Fare Thee Well Beast, sad 2 see him go but Jeff Green is a stud. with the 4 Superstars we have, Delonte, Baby, Jeff Green, and Wafer playing well… we just need to piece together 48 minutes a night at the Center spot from Krstic, Shaq, Jermaine, MUrphy? Sheed? if we cannot do that then we simply do not deserve to win anything… that is the bottom line! We will all miss Perk but the bottom line is that its about the name on the front not the back… Jeff Green is a stud.

Kendrick Perkins will always be a Celtic to all who love the club around the world.
    F*CK DANNY AINGE!
