Carmelo Anthony is a Knick

The Nuggets traded Melo to the New York Knicks tonight, a league source said. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.

Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman

I know Carmelo Anthony is pretty good… but does anyone else think the Knicks gave up a bit too much?

Denver, meanwhile, is rumored to be swinging some of those pieces right back to New Jersey for two first-rounders.  So they'll end up with five draft picks, cash and some decent role players out of it.  I think they'll come out of this OK

If you want to see the C's play Melo & the Knicks, hurry up and buy your tickets now before brokers flip out and jack up prices.  Buy tickets for the March 21 game in New York here, and the April 13 game in Boston here.

Celtics play Knicks twice more: in NYC in March, and at home in April for regular-season finale. I’d honestly say NY makes out better in this. I really do. Chandler and Felton are good players, but Billups and Melo are great players. Plus, Amare and Melo together can lure other great players next year. (if there’s not a lockout)

Lateral move. Felton is arguably better than Billups at this point.

didn’t give up that much, wilson chandler are role player caliber wings, timothy can’t grab 3 boards in a game, and felton was always a temporary point guard for them. reports are that denver’s gm isn’t even that high on danilo or felton, and will look to trade them. The knicks get the two best players in the deal, if they keep billups, which would be stupid not to.
The trade was made cause melo handcuffed the nuggets, they got extremely lucky that the cba is expiring after this year, and that the nuggets got back in it, otherwise melo would have done the nuggets just like lebron did cleveland
the offer was fair at best imo

I feel like Felton moving teams at this point in his career is just like when Billups left Boston…

    now they need dwight howard

actually in that analogy it’d be like when he left minny, leaving Charlotte would have been like when Billups left Boston.
only Billups didn’t play out his rookie contract and leave through free agency when Boston didn’t want him that much, he was prematurely traded by that jagoff rick pitino

They have 1 big man who doesn’t defend. His backups? Ronny Turiaf and Shelden Wiliams.
    Good luck with that, NYK.

Right – well I'm not being exact regarding timeline, but my point is that the Knicks are giving up on a guy just as he is coming into his own.  And it is funny that it is for Chauncey.

Dwight would be a terrible pairing with Amare. Styles are way too similar. It would be like when they paired Amare with Shaq.
What the Knicks need now is a young pg that match up with the young crew in the league today.

You can’t entirely blame Pitino for that. Yes, he traded him, but so did the next four coaches who worked with Chauncey. Billups didn’t finally come into his own until he arrived in Detroit.

Absolutely gave up too much. They have Amare, Melo, Chauncey, scrubs and…..Isiah Thomas. Poor Knicks fans….
The Knicks are now like a poor man’s Heat.

    lol@ poor man’s heat, awesome

Chauncey is a bit long in the tooth these days, but the Knicks just got better. Laundry Fields is the keeper and they kept him. Decent deal for Denver too as they were up against it.

Agreed. Melo and Amare are fantastic players in their prime and Billups has been around the block and isn’t overly selfish. When it’s Chauncey’s time to slow down, they should be able to lure a guard to NYC.
Since I’m speculating, depending on the labor crap, isn’t CP3 coming up next year?

  • http://profile.typepad.com/the_bantam the_bantam

It’s strange. Being a Big 12 fan, I watched him quite a few times and was psyched when the C’s got him to go along with PP. At first I thought Pitino was the problem but his struggles after the C’s led me to think otherwise.

I want Dwight to come to Boston!

Yes indeed. That's the rumor too. It sure is a much different NBA then the one I grew-up with..
