D-Daughter
Darin E. grew-up in enemy territory: Southern California. But that did not stop him from becoming a Celtics fan. Darin's love of Bird, DJ and the gang was stronger than any of the hate that Californians could throw his way.

Growing up in a suburb of L.A., D heard it all- "Celtics suck!".."Stupid leprachauns.." But it not deter him. After watching the great Larry Joe Bird play for the first time in 1981, he was hooked. He ran out to his local sporting goods store and bought a Macgregor sand-knit Larry Bird jersey. Some of you youngsters may have to Google "Macgregor sand-knit NBA jersey"…….

 Larry-bird

In 2007, Darin and his family had the opportunity to visit Beantown. They fell in love with the city, and made a permanent move in 2008-just in time to experience the C's winning Banner17. That ranks amongst Darin's favorite Celtic memories of all time, but his #1 fave all-time Celtic moment he tells me is Bird's steal in 1987 vs the Pistons. That I have to say is one of my faves also:

Darin calls last year's Game 4 of the 2010 Finals as the most exciting game he's ever experienced in person. I've attended a good amount of games w/Darin, and as is the case with every Celts fan, he knows the game, he loves his Celts and he's a diehard backer of the green for life. He is one of the many great people I've had the opportunity to meet via Celtics games and interacting over social-media with other Celtics fans. We were both at the Garden last night, and had to agree there is nothing like a Celtics-Lakers game in Boston. Nothing. Be sure to follow Darin on Twitter, and until next week folks, hope you enjoyed another FanFriday, and go Celtics!!!!
