Recap: Cs destroy Cavs in Perk’s debut

(AP Photo/Stephan Savoia)

The Celtics plowed over the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-95 in Kendrick Perkins first game back from major knee surgery.

Perk looked solid – 7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists in 16 minutes. The Garden crowd gave him a standing ovation when he entered the game with 8 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. While he admitted being winded and a bit out of snyc, Perk exceeded all of my expectations.

Paul Pierce scored 17 of his 24 points in the 1st quarter. It appeared as if a face-to-face chat with Joey Graham ignited the Truth.

It looked as if Cleveland was going to make this a game. They shot 52% in the 1st quarter, but still trailed by 8 (thanks to Pierce's hot start). The Cs broke this game open in the 2nd quarter by outscoring the Cavs 33-19.

The Celtics made 11 threes, had 29 assists and committed just 9 TOs.

Can anyone tell me why Rajon Rondo played 43 minutes?

One thing I can tell you is that lately Rondo looks a step slow. Maybe he’s just pacing himself. It’d be good to keep an eye on him.

  • Lorilei

Is Pierce okay? Wasn’t he limping a little in the game?

  • Mileke

Didnt see the game, but I am so happy to have Perk back, words cant explain how happy I am to hear that!

  • itsthatbradguy

Plantar Fasciitis is a problem than can linger, and I don’t like seeing Rondo play 44 minutes in a game that wasn’t close after the 1st quarter.

  • trytryagain

God I hope The C’s stay healthy so the NBA doesn’t have to listen them list excuses why they didn’t get the trophy this year either!
I can hear it now, “Rondo’s feet were only at 75%…….Shaq had a bum hip!..”etc etc.

  • The laker1

Wow congrats on getting perk made it back early good stuff hopefully it can be our teams in the finals laker vs celts…………..And i dont think you can say destroy cavs if you call that destroy what do you call the 51 we beat them by

  • Watched the whole thing (after the first quarter) on the net even though the broadcast was in French. Cavs suck is the same in any language.

I hope the Celtics Stomp the Heat…..Everyone wants the heat to win b/c of there new Big 3..that’s the whole team. Between the 3 of them they are taking over 60 shots a game.
Perk Played Great in his comeback and i agree i would of sat Rondo but they didn’t have a backup PG, other then Nate and Quies didn’t play either so. Rondo looked slow once after he was in the stands. Then he stole the ball for a Nate dunk.

Good of you to come over and celebrate with us..
Tell Kobe to ‘pace’ himself for the playoffs. No one wants to hear that ‘bone on bone’ stuff down the road.

i call it also destroying the cavs? who cares, what a stupid thing to say what is your point?

  • green8teen

how do those jerry west comments sound to you?

  • Perk gets all the press-and he should. But what I thought was also great tonight were Nate and Von. Nate FINALLY hit some shots and looked more comfortable when Doc had him out there as a 2. He’s a scorer-period. Hopefully Doc can experiment w/that more when DWest is back. And Von keeps getting better too. Man he’s explosive. I love when he attacks the rim-has to work on his finishing, but that will come in handy in the playoffs getting some bigs in foul trouble hopefully.

  • PPsucks

Nah, he left that piece of shit arena you call the Gahhhhhhhden in his famous wheelchair

Side note: Wanna see a troll? Take a gander at PPSucks.

  • Classless

    troll is obvious

  • trytryagain

Like most negative comments made about a team mid-season, they sounded like what they were ultimately intended to be: motivation. I personally don’t buy into it, but if you don’t see that then you must be new to this game.

  • trytryagain

Although I agree with your sentiment, and see using “destroy” as yet another “look how tough we are” smokescreen chest puff…..dude, you sound like you flunked out of grade school. Step it up, junior.

  • Classless

Sup with all the Lakers trolls on here tonight? Their sphincters must have tightened knowing that Perk is back….y’know, the reason why the Celtics lost Game 7.

  • trytryagain

  • greenbeand

yeah no way he’s an all star. what’s the second thing?

  • trytryagain

Now THERE is some “troll” action!
That being said, my only reaction that retroactive attempt at a “burn” is same as always: Explain how The Lakers won the games Perk DID play in……
Excuses don’t bring you trophies. Should Laker fans hold the absence of Barnes on Sunday in their back pockets in case Boston grabs the win? That’s straight up ridiculous.
As I said, I’m glad he’s back. Makes for more entertaining games, and when the C’s lose their chance at a trophy AGAIN they will have no excuses. Until they invent one or two while the rest of the NBA chuckles.

  • Lee in Oregon

I’m with you….nice to see Nate play better but not at the cost of agravating Rondo’s feet. Good to see Perk get that ovation tonite…hopefully D West is the next guy back and he can run the 2nd unit.

  • Goceltics

Shut your little Laker Punk Ass up! We will see you Biatches on Sunday. Bunch of Chavalas. Bring it

  • Goceltics

That trophy will come back to Bean town Baby! Remember that. Lakers are a bunch of cry babies this year. Bunch of Blamers. Even your coach is acting like a punk.

  • john

perkins is our starting center… matt barnes is some bum of the bench. You can’t compare a starter to a guy who get 20 minutes a night on a good day.

  • trytryagain

Looks like we have another scholar here. Good to see that ignorant inbreds are well and good in Boston.

  • trytryagain

Fair point (don’t know about “some bum” but I understand you hafta look tough in front of your homies). But c’mon……the excuse train has been pretty much driven by The Celtics every year. Choo-Choo!

  • trytryagain

Heard it all last year, sonny. And the year before that. Key phrase there is “come back”. Cause it’s been in Los Angeles for the last two seasons.
    Remember THAT.

  • DRJ

    Re Rondo’s high PT:
It was probably related to Perk coming off the bench. Doc would want Perk’s first time(s) back to be with the starters, or barring that, at least with Rondo running the offense. Rondo at the offensive helm, even at low energy, means there is relative order out there. With Quis out, Nate was the only other option… and that experiment is almost certainly over by now.

  • Cs girl

    Perk’s still a beast.

  • Ugly_joe

I dont get it. Lakers need to beat Spurs first and than posting stuff on Celtics blogs…

  • Caterpillar from Italy

    Welcome back Perk!!
And, talking about centers, Semih was kind of player of the game!!!

  • trytryagain

    Internet rules? C’mon.
