If you weren't aware, Ray Allen is chasing Reggie Miller's record for most 3's career 3's made.  Reggie is at 2560… Ray is at 2533.

So Ray needs to make 28 more 3's to break Reggie's record.  this season, he's hitting 2.25 3's per game.  BUT… in January he's hitting 3.1 3's per game.

At the January pace… Ray will break the record on Friday, February 4 (Perk's targeted return date, by the way) against the Mavericks.  But at his full season pace, he'll break it on Thursday, February 10 against…..

The Lakers.

The C's have games on February 6 against Orlando and February 7 in Charlotte… so either of those games is a possibility as well.  Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were asked about Ray's pursuit last night… which led to this funny moment at the podium (video via WEEI's Mike Petraglia)

That’s so funny, where Pierce talks about how he used to complain about not getting the shots, even though he got all the shots, and now he’s focused on winning … and KG, slipping in that point about Howard’s foul shots! Love it. Smart guys. They have the ability to turn the usual not very smart questions into smart answers.

Reggie Miller, who called the game last night, has been nothing but classy as Ray approaches his record.

Agreed. I want to hate him but he’s been a class act. Last night when he mentioned ‘nobody alive right now will break the record’, I was floored.
