Semih must break you

Yeah… yeah… I know the line was delivered by a Russian guy and Semih is Turkish.  It's called creative license.

Semih played ok last night.  He turned it over a few times and he missed some makeable shots… but he grabbed a few rebounds… most notably that one.  And with Jermaine O'Neal out with a mystery knee injury… Semih will have to do more of that in the future.  And honestly… as a 3rd center… he's not bad.  We can certainly do worse.

I’m not sure how the development of Semih went almost unnoticed by everyone when Jermaine was out for several weeks. By the time Jermaine came back I thought Semih was consistently very good…clearly a solid NBA backup center with great energy and solid fundamentals – like blocking out and getting RBs. When Jermaine returned to the lineup I thought production at the position noticeably dropped off again. Semih disappeared for the entire time Jermaine was back. He probably needs a few more games to get back to where he was before the long layoff but I’m looking forward to seeing everyone get on the Semih bandwagon in the next few weeks. The guy is a very solid contributor.

  • Agreed, when he’s getting his minutes, Semih plays hard and shows more energy in the paint than just about everyone except for Garnett. He could definitely work on his handles and scoring, but Erden does a good job controlling the paint, contesting shots, and getting rebounds, which are all huge assets for the Celtics with the weakness they have showed downlow with KG injured. Erden’s energy can help other guys on the C’s who feed off energy like Nate, Big Baby, and Harangody and we will be glad to have a guy like Erden down the stretch.
