Jermaine out tonight, Rondo out for Christmas

RedsArmyAdmin December 22, 2010 Uncategorized 5 Comments

I'll go ahead and make the same joke I just made on Twitter… the Celtics injury report might as well come pre-printed with Jermaine O'Neal's name on it.  He's out tonight… but this time because of the flu.

Honestly… I don't want to cast aspersions on Jermaine.  I just find it amazing that there is always some reason for him not to play.  He's either the most snake bitten guy in the league… or…

Never mind.  The other bit of injury news is that Rajon Rondo won't be ready by Christmas.  Too bad.  But Doc seems to think Rondo is close to returning.

They don’t call him Jermaine the Drain for nothing.
Amazing how Pierce, Baby, etc., were able to swill pedialyte and get on the floor when they were sick, but Jermaine can’t. And by “amazing” I mean “predictable.”

Doc just probably told him to sit it out since they have enough guys for this 6ers team and they don’t want him getting anyone else sick. It’s only worth the risk when it’s someone you can’t really play without.

And people were wondering if there would be enough minutes for Shaq, Perk, KG, Big Baby, and JO when they were all healthy. I don’t think Big Baby is losing any time to JO. He sure doesn’t deserve to anyway. He’s unplayable and untradeable, essentially our entire MLE down the drain.

They said 2 weeks for Rondo, and with THREE different ailments to mend, it has to be AT LEAST that long. Could easily be a whole month. Whatever it takes, let it take. He’s gotta get all the way healthy before he comes back, because when he plays injured, he only ups his risk to get EVEN MORE injured. That’s the way it works. So I’m glad he’s gonna stay out longer… as long as it takes.

Jermaine O’Neal is by far the worst signing Ainge has made since he took over as GM. I’m still waiting for the explanation of why he was given over $6 million a year after showing IN PERSON the Celtics how shitty his game is in the Miami series. He’s soft, always hurt to some degree, and more limited offensively than anyone seems to want to admit. Sit him on the bench when Perk is back.
