Recap: O’Neal boys throw a block party

The Celtics improved their preseason record to 3-0 with a 91-87 win over the Raptors at the Garden.

Toronto trotted out an undersized line-up and the Celtics took advantage of it. Shaquille O'Neal (11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks in 17 minutes) abused the 6-8 Reggie Evans and Charmin soft Andrea Bargnani.

Jermaine O'Neal swatted 3 shots in his 8 minutes.

Despite the obvious mismatches, the Cs led by only 7 at the half and found themselves trailing in the 4th quarter (76-72).

But the super subs prevailed. Marquis Daniels scored 9 of his 11 points in the 4th. Nate Robinson (13 points) and Delonte West (11 points) also had some big buckets down the stretch.

Von Wafer continues to be the odd man out. He played only 4 minutes tonight.

Stephane Lasme has impressed me a helluva more than Luke Harangody.

Glen Davis suffered a nose contusion while taking a charge in the 1st half. He did not return.

  • J O’Neal had a brief but good performance. He was a bit rusty on offense though.
The bench was once again superb. And I’m really liking Quis’ so far.

    How did Semih look?

  • gotta give the 15th spot to Lasme after that earth shattering dunk
“life, lasme, and the pursuit of freeman”

  • Semih made 2 spectacular passes to Quis tonight. Is a great passer.

  • Lasme gives us length & athleticism. Wafer does not seem to be playing like a man who is trying to make the roster. It’s only been 3 games, but disappointed in him. How about those crisp passes by Erden? Kid has great hands and really good court-vision. Quis continues to play well and if he adds a 3-pt shot to his out. J.O. was great on D tonight. Saw Perk on the way inside tonight and he is very upbeat. When he comes back we will so deep at the 5. Fun night at the Garden tonight. Oh and Nate could make a case for 6th man of the year-mark my words…

thanks for the info on semih. Dont get all of the games here in NC. Im hoping semih gets to stick around. I got a funny feeling about that guy.

This team is easily the deepest I’ve ever seen. Some one every night will be hot. I could see 7+ players averaging double figures over the course of the season. This team is going to be fun.

As a UMass Alum (’07), I hope Lasme continues to prove he’s worthy of the last roster spot!

I agree! When he was at Umass he was raw but a dominant defensive player. The Celtics should give him a chance. I don’t want to overstate his abilities but in 2007, Lasme tied an NCAA record of four triple doubles during a season, each one with blocks!

its nice to hear positive comments about Semih..Hes a great player i watced him in onur country Turkey many times, hopefully he’ll play better, and hell yess he has good hanndsss to pass!!:):):))

  • Rondo’s jumper is also looking good. His arms are set and his form right now looks better. Looks like he’s been working on it.
