Your Morning Dump… Where Ron Artest wants to help

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

Artest finally won a title in June after 11 regular seasons of trying
… and now he's planning to sell the championship ring as a fundraiser
to put more psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists in schools.

"I'm never going to put it on," he said.

Artest
plans to soon announce details of what he hopes will become a worldwide
auction, and he takes possession of the jewelry in an Oct. 26 pre-game
ceremony before the Lakers open against the Rockets. It's an incredible
gesture. But it's even more meaningful as a statement.

"You work
so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people
than just yourself, instead of just satisfying yourself," he said.
"What's better than that? For me, this is very important."

Kudos to Ron Artest for putting his heart (and ring) behind an important cause.

But… why give away a precious symbol like a championship ring when you can just write a check for 1, 2 or 5 million dollars? I'm guessing the auction will fetch, at the most, six figures.

Speaking of the Lakers, the newly signed Matt Barnes was arrested on felony domestic assault charges. The 6-7, 225 pound Barnes says he was the victim.

I could care less what Fartest does. But with Barnes, I have sympathy for the dude. Just a wee bit though. Anybody who has seen NBA Wives knows exactly why I say that. Barnes actually made an appearance on the show with those delusional money grubbing….women. I’m not sure that this is the same girl, but if it is….I can easily see why he feels like the victim. The hens on that show are vicious.
But hey, he made his bed.

This is the guy that thanked his psychiatrist after the Lakers won Game 7… I think it is safe to say that Ron Artest does not always put a lot of thought behind everything he does… As for Barnes, it’s probably just a standard case of PCFSD (post conference finals stress disorder), and thought his girl was KG and the stairs were Stan Van Gundy.

What a dope Artest. Yes, it’s a nice gesture but why bail on the ring when he could just right a check from say, a record deal? ha. In the end, whatever the means are he’s helping charity and that’s cool. But really dude? Just sell a car, write a check, anything… hawking your ring?!
Barnes.. another dope. Come on guys, is the tail THAT good to hang out with chics like this?

Giving to charity is a nice gesture. But he’s still just Ron Artwat.

Looks like Barnes landed on the right team. He and Kobe have lots in common.
