Your Morning Dump… Where a brother named ‘Father Time’ did Shaq in

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump

Do you still consider yourself one of the best players in the game?

Everyone always wants the title as the best player in the game. I own my title, and I still own it to this day. A lot of people want to take shots now, but I’m 38. But the only person in the league that slowed me down was a brother named father time, and that’s life, it slows everybody down. But no big man is ever going to do what I and Tim Duncan have done in our careers. It was time for 10 consecutive years that either me or Tim was in the NBA Finals. It was broken two years, but there will never be another big guy to do that. Q&A with Shaquille O'Neal

This seems to be a big chunk of the Q&A that spawned yesterday's dump headline.  So to Shaquille O'Neal I say thanks for talking as much as you have… otherwise the dumps would be kinda barren.

As for his legacy… Shaq was obviously one of the greatest of all time.   Just ask him.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I never had an inconsistent year, and I’ve always been dominant. I’m the No. 5 all-time scorer — 2,000 points behind Wilt Chamberlain. Once I pass him up, I want the title as the most dominant to ever play the game. When I’m done, it would be nice to say that I passed up Chamberlain, earned five rings, and finished in the (top) 10 all-time in blocks and rebounds. Hopefully all of that will put me on the first ballot for the Hall of Fame.

Yeah, he's a first ballot Hall of Famer no matter what.

It's gonna be kinda weird watching him play out the string in a C's uniform.  Just wait until you see him out there for the first time and you get hit with that "holy shit… Shaq plays for the Celtics" feeling.  It'll be a head shaking moment.

Shaq is both funny & delusional. It’s be nice if he looked up in the rafters and noted the brilliant career of the great Bill Russell. Without a doubt, Russ was/is the most dominant man, big or small, to ever lace up sneakers.
Shaq, you had afew great years where you could overpower a league where there were no centers other than Zo. Then you let yourself get fat, and got lucky enough to ride D Wade’s coat-tails to that 4th ring.
1st ballot HOFer, yes, for sure. Most dominant ever? No. Not even close. And the more he says it, the more absurd it sounds.

That last paragraph has been a recurring thought since I heard about the signing. Oh man…this gonna be such a fun year. *shakes head*

did anyone else take note to the fact that shaq would have to average just over twelve points a game to pass Wilt…if he can give us that night in and out we will definitely win banner 18 and 19…oh yeah i think that i just got hit with that “holy crap shaq plays for the celtics feeling”

  • @J Atlas 12ppg this season will only give him 972 points. unless he plays for two seasons, he won’t pass Wilt in scoring.
