Your Morning Dump… Where Shaq WILL be a Celtic

Shaq C's jersey

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

Shaquille O'Neal has agreed to become a Boston Celtic, which would give
the C's one of the most star-studded, Hall of Fame-bound lineups in
recent memory.

He joins a team that already includes perennial all-stars Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett.

O'Neal has said he wants to play at least two more seasons, his
contract will be a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum.

union between the C's and O'Neal speaks volumes about how both sides,
truth be told, have little choice but to unite with one another.

CSNNE: Shaq to become a Celtic

Props to Sherrod Blakely for being on top of this story from the jump.  Although there is a report out there that this will be a 2 year deal, and not 1… so we'll have to see how that shakes out.  And props to him for that last line… because THAT'S what this is really about.

In the end, Shaq is out of options… and so are the Celtics.  For each side to accomplish its goal, it needs the other to make it possible.

So Shaq is going to be a Celtic.  This is going to be one hell of a ride, folks.  One hell of a ride.

On Page 2: Baby's excited about Shaq

From Big Baby's Twitter page:

.. Me and shaq on the same team!!!!! that's crazy!!! Ayo baby!!!!!!

I am going to teach shaq how to douggie!!! Ayo baby!! On my mama!!

I can't wait for those plan rides !! It's going to be funny !! Ayo baby

I can bet shaq in a dance off!!! With no problems!! So easy!!! Can't wait!!!

See what I mean?

It's going to be real interesting to see how Shaq fits in with the different personalities on this team.  And yes, I'm think of KG when I say this.

Some of these guys are so happy-go-lucky, like Baby.  But I wonder if having Shaq around will cause the goofiness to happen at what KG deems to be inappropriate times.  It's gonna be interesting to see.

Garnett/Pierce/Allen/O’Neal/O’Neal! It’s the Antiques Road Show!

  • Bas Rutten Jr.

You need to redo that poll…I want to give Danny an A now. \o/ This is gonna be a FUN season!

  • Orb

“I am going to teach shaq how to douggie!!! On my mama!!”
Isn’t that what happened in Cleveland last year with Lebron and Delonte? That ended up causing all sorts of problems, just warning ya, Baby.

While Shaq is a clown at times, it is NEVER on the court at the expense of his team. He is competitive as hell and is a proven winner, and is very serious within the game. I don’t think you need to worry about the goofiness.

  • I’m trying to think but nothing happens

  • thetitleisours

I just hope Free Throws will not be our Achilles heal this year.
Shaq was the best what was left. It will be interesting when Perk comes back.
If either of the O-Neal’s have a injury we will still be depending on Erden at some point in the year

  • JDfromQC

    hehehehe HACK a shaq,lol

  • NineSevenEight

Since Shaq has decided to go green, does this mean he become “The Big Bio-Diesel” by default?

  • Erden looked terrible in the Summer League…I think the Shaq signing is to ensure we DON’T need Erden.
    Erden = Patrick O’Bryant

  • Champ

    The Big Snaq!!! Enjoy!

  • SwampYankee

    A hundred Tommy Points!

  • Does this mean we get the Jabbawockeez at half time?

  • Danno

It’s not like Perk was better from the line than Shaq.

  • thetitleisours

But the odds of J & S both staying healthy throughout the season are rare.

  • OK, so then we are screwed. Erden is awful and can’t compete at the NBA level.
Say Perk is out for the whole season; we now have Shaq AND Jermaine – I see that as a positive. It’s better than just Jermaine, right? But on top of that, you are saying we are going to need another Center? Here are the Centers for the competition:
    Heat Centers: Magloire, Pittman, Ilgauskas
Magic Centers: Howard, Gortat, Orton, Foyle
    Lakers Centers: Bynum, Ratliff, Ilunga-Mbenga
Heat have 0 that are good, Magic have 2, Lakers have 1. And if ‘Sheed decides to come back and play, we have a great front line. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have Perk healthy, but we don’t – I just think its too early to be worried about the O’Neals getting injured.
I’ll be shocked if Erden is on this team in December.

  • Shawn-cvd

    Good one! Too smart though…

Just keep in perspective, he’s a bench player.. and a damned good bench player.
Also, be prepared for all the wheel chair, Senior Discount chatter. I like the signing, though the ‘age’ stuff will start in about 3 seconds.
I’m psyched for the Baby/Shaq/Nate press conference.. easily the most entertaining bench in the NBA

  • CoachBo

    Ah, yes.
The Big Rigor Mortis joins the Celtics.

I am in favor of the Big Bio-Diesel for sure. BBD squared when combined with Baby. Or the Shaq, Shrek, and Donkey show.
The Rigor Mortis comment is a bit prehumous coach.
I agree with Danno that Shaq is insignificantly worse that Perk at the line. No reason to be any more concerned about free throws than b4.

Well he’ll never be a LAKER GREAT fuck him!

  • Mike

Psucka, Doubt he gives a rats ass about being a laker great; neither do I. Eat shit & die.
