Your Morning Dump… Harangody on his way to Boston

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

Luke Harangody, the Celtics' second-round draft choice (No. 52 overall) last month, is reportedly flying into town Thursday to join the team, according to WNDU, and it would seem logical to expect that a rookie contract could be inked soon.

"I definitely think I opened some eyes," Harangody told the school's Web
site. "The members of the Celtics' staff, they really knew what I can
do, so that wasn't a surprise. But some people out there didn't know the
kind of ability I have. Like I said [in Orlando], it's always nice to
prove those people wrong."

Harangody knows he can't rest on the laurels of his strong summer play.

"There's still a lot of work to do," said Harangody. "The summer
league is one thing. Now the real job begins and you have to work every
day."

Welcome to Boston, Luke. We've set the bar of expectations at Brian Scalabrine level. Equal that… and we'll be happy.

On Page 2, why the Knicks may be out of the running for Rudy Fernandez.

"They just don't have anything [Portland] would want," a person with knowledge of the situation told Newsday.

An
NBA source said that the Blazers would prefer to receive a first-round
pick for Fernandez, which is a problem for the Knicks because they gave
up their 2012 pick to the Rockets in the February trade for Tracy
McGrady that helped clear more salary cap space for this summer's foray
in free agency. NBA rules prohibit a team from trading first-round
picks in consecutive years, so the Knicks cannot make that move until
2014. The source said the Blazers are not interested in waiting four
years when they almost assuredly would not have to wait as long with
another team. The Oregonian reported Wednesday that the Bulls and
Celtics were also interested.

What a shame. The Knicks might lose out on Rudy Fernandez and LeBron James in the same summer. Just devastating.

There doesn't seem to be anything imminent regarding Fernandez. I saw some Tweets last night saying not to expect anything new until Sunday.

He is more like Ryan Gomes than Scal I think. Hope we have some extra guys on the end that can play. We need to rest our stars again this year.
Why do we have to wait on Rudy! Offseason requires patience and that is not always easy

I think DA had him more pegged as a backup for Big Baby

Well now that Josh Howard is back with the wiz it looks like we need all the help we can get at the SF spot. So where does that 6.5 for sheeds contract go. If they get rudy that;s a draft pick. With the way the cap is they blazers don’t need to dump priz and with his 14+ boards per 40mins that’s really to bad the cap isn’t a few mil lower. We get a guy on can board and we can over come a 4 point whole in the 4th qtr. Is there any benfit to holding on to sheeds contract and trying to get shaq as the vet min and using sheeds contract lata on? We still don’t have a lock down defender they C’s must be huge on avery bradley…
