Sheed Retires

Sheed yelling

Chris Mannix tweets that it is official.  More to come…

Neither David Aldridge nor J.A. Adande reference a buyout with the Celtics. They both say Wallace is walking away from $12-$13 million dollars. I thought a buyout was in the Celtics best salary cap interests?

We're also wondering if Sheed actually filed the paper work today.. or did he just let everyone know today and give Danny the heads up so he can make a trade?

  • Great picture. I remember being at the Garden that night. If not for Thibs, ‘Sheed’s career would’ve probably ended that night after he killed that Thanks ‘Sheed. For all the techs and trash-talk, you played your ass off in the playoffs, especially Game 7. Godspeed my man.

What does that mean to the cap? Can his contract be moved to a team trying to get under lux tax or free up more $$? So many questions for the team…
Thank you Sheed for your incredible contributions to a most memorable post season.

Go away troll…before you do read this hypothetical…
Say the Spurs moved to Hartford, Connecticut. You think that on opening day of their first season the citizens there would be thrilled to be four time champions? Now say over the course of thirty years said relocated Spurs franchise won six titles…but 10 titles has a better ring to it yes? It’s a bait and switch as far as I’m concerned…

  • Oh man I have a stalker. To bad it’s a crack baby

we r now at pick 40 and Solomon Alabi is still on the board if Ainge can just trade up a few spots from 52 we can possibly get him, I really like this kids potential…Ainge is the only G.M in the league who expects to hit on 2nd round picks see Ryan Gomes, Leon Powe, Glen Davis and the jury is still out on Bill Walker and Semih Erden but no body else even the Spurs has a draft resume like Ainge,

A buyout only hurts the Celtics cap situation. A buyout counts against the cap. Simple retirement does not — if he actually officially retires. The only way “retirement” without a buyout hurts the cap situation is if the Celtics decide to keep paying him his full salary not to play. The only other way is that if he officially retires the Celtics cannot trade him.
