Lamar Odom is turtling

With Andrew Bynum's knee getting more painful and swollen by the second, a panicky Lakers nation turns its eyes to Lamar Odom. Is Mr. Kardashian up for the challenge?

“I’m not going to put it on my shoulders to win or lose the game,”
Odom said. “We have to play together as a team.”

This is Lamar Odom in full. The personality that happily allows him
to defer to others and at times makes him the ultimate third or fourth
option is the same one that prevents him from assuming the pressure of
stepping into an expanded set of responsibilities.

He’s always had the talent to be one of the elite players in the
game. He just never had the desire to take the job.

“We have to make up for his size and shot-blocking ability and the
way he protects the rim,” Odom said of Bynum. “We have to realize as a
team what he gives us and what Lamar gives us. As a team we have to
rebound better. We gave [rebounds] up as a team. We have to box out as a

Wait, there’s more.

“It’s always team defense … we have to move the ball as a team … we
do everything as a team … as a team we have to figure out what Andrew
gave us and what we’re going to miss.”

Odom isn’t wrong. The game is won as a team. But the fact he wasn’t
vocalizing an aggressive, ready-for-the-challenge mentality is

Surely Phil Jackson will find a way to motivate the Candy man, right?

"I was thinking of an electrode," Jackson said to laughter. "Something
that would really be a stimulus. What do you suggest? No, we're just
trying to find a comfort spot for him out there. He looked uncomfortable
[in Game 4], and he had a couple double whammies go against him;
Garnett out there for a while and then he had Davis coming at him, and
things kind of snowballed on him."

Watching Odom get totally dominated by Davis was a beautiful sight. The Lakers are in serious trouble and they know it. Time to go for the jugular.

jared your wife is in serious trouble

That’s the story of Odom’s life. Back in college he even did his SATs “as a team.” I see the same thing with Artest, who is all too happy to have Kobe be his master. That’s something you really do have to respect Gasol for, he and Fisher are about the only one’s on the team not kissing Kobe’s feet. Too bad for them it’s not enough.

  • I bleed green in L.A.

Yeah, Lamar sucks, nothing new. He can’t guard BBD and Artest can’t guard Paul, he was getting around him so easily. Actually everyone was beating their defender and geting to the rim, just couldn’t finish the bunnys. We keep attacking the rim with Bynum out the rest of the way and we got this.

I love it when Odom tries to put on that phony ass “im pumped” look. Frickin hilarious. His shrinking and careless attitude makes him seem like a more talented but equally apathetic Mark Blount.

  • Lakerhater(FD)

Go easy on Odom, the fat Kardashian has been eating all his candy.

  • Boston Man

    ugly sister

BOTTOM LINE….The media and the L.A beat writers and press have tried to turn this guy into some sort of star, a guy with endless untapped potential that can be a SUPERTAR and make L.A unbeatable when he is playing well. Facts are facts though, and for everyone who wants to say that K.G isn;t the same anymore, o.k thats a fair point, but WHAT THE FUCK HAS LAMAR ODOM EVER BEEN?? hes a waist of sperm if you ask me. He cant even handle our 4th big man. Thats the problem if you ask me, Fisher Artest Bynum and Odom are so hyped up, all those guys combined have never made an ALL-Star team. We have SUPERSTARS, they don’t..simple as that

  • Got ’em

You guys have all-stars, not superstars, just to clarify
A superstar is someone you would hand the ball over to play a game of one-on-one against an alien threatening to destroy Earth. To me, it’s immediately boiled down to 3 people in this order
    1. Kobe Bryant
    2. LeBron James
    3. Dwyane Wade
Sorry but your superstars didn’t make the cut. I hope you enjoyed the analogy.

    YOU MAD!?

  • KY Celts fan

Too bad for the Lakers the NBA doesn’t play 1-on-1. And Boston is the very epitome of team basketball.

  • Shawn-cvd

You better hope that said alien race threatening humankind doesn’t follow the Celtics accomplishments this post season…
    3 D Wade….done, coach fired
    2 L James…finished, coach fired, gm resigned
1 K Bryant…soon to be denied his fifth ring

  • Got ’em

That’s all coincidence man it was bound to happen anyways with the coming of summer ’10 so stop trying to make it seem like the celtics have a thing with literally dismantiling teams
