Oh crap, TA’s ankle might be a problem

Via Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston:

Allen slowed his pregame workout before Game 2 in Orlando numerous times
and appeared to be grimacing while grabbing at his right foot. Allen
played only 15 minutes that night, his shortest outing since May 1.

Rivers noted the injury was so worrisome that the Celtics actually
used Nate
Robinson
as the backup point guard for much of the three-day break
between Games 2 and 3 because the team was uncertain if Allen could go
Saturday night.

Allen played 18 minutes in Game 3, making the only shot he
attempted, while registering four points, two assists, a steal, and a
rebound. His deflection set into motion Rajon
Rondo
's spectacular hustle play that fueled the Celtics to a
lopsided win and a 3-0 series lead.

Tony Allen is cursed.Whenever the guy is playing great basketball, he eventually gets derailed by an injury.

Let's hope he can play through the pain and/or the long layoff between the conference finals and the Finals will benefit him.

Having blown out both ankles playing ball, I’d have to say that an ankle injury (short of a break) has to be the most manageable injury to play on. With like a gazillion days to rest up after the win tonight, he should be able to give whatever Doc needs of him.

Argh, this guy always gets hurt. He needs to drink more milk. lol

Shut him down till the next series. Point Blank!

If the Magic is getting their ass handed to them again today, Tony really shouldn’t play. Let him get his rest, take care of his ankle, and he’ll be better for the Finals against… not even sure… Looks like Phoenix has deciphered the Lakers so we will see who comes out of the West.

Maybe it will work out for the best? I’ve been wanting to see a little more of Daniels and Nate anyway. Looking ahead to the next series, we’ll need Sheldon too, versus the bigs of L.A. I’m just hoping Doc will go a little deeper in the Finals.
I like our bench (and starters) more than the Fakers, but I’d love to still have Eddie House on this team.

Notice this happens right around all that talk about putting Tony in the Banner……… just sayiinn!

Not a huge fan of this news, but really it could be worse. Its amazing what a few days (or a month) till the next series and an nba quality tape job can do.

Considering that he played 2 days ago and looked fine, and now has a long layoff to get even better… sounds like nuttin.

TA is this years Posey for me – u may laugh – no stop laughing…..he comes off the bench and stops guys….
He doesn’t shoot the 3 ball but he cuts to the hoop and gets us 6 pts a game off the bench, always seems to come up with a key rebound or 2 and makes a good pass here and there (eg the bounce pass he threw through the whole Magic team to KG for a jumper last game) – He also does the odd bone headed play but I’m willing to eat that cos he’s bringing a lot to the table…(u see what i did there??)
