How One Game Can Sway A Nation

Before this series began, quite a few "experts" (ok pretty much everybody west of the 495 belt) picked the Cavs to beat the Celtics anywhere from a sweep to 7 games.  John reminded us all of said predictions yesterday.  After last night's historic victory in Cleveland that gave the Celtics a 3-2 series lead heading back to the Garden, it seems like the entire nation (except for Ohio and Wyoming, curiously) have all pulled a 180.  Check out the ESPN poll below.  I wonder what this would have looked like after Game 3?

Win or lose, Lebron is going to have to put up a hell of a game tonight just to save face and make up for his zero effort travesty in Game 5.
That said, it’ll all be for not and the Celtics will still win!

  • Vegas had the C’s at 30-1 to win the ‘ship after game 4. After winning game 5, it dropped to 7.5 to 1. Unbelievable!

You can do another screen grab from….you guessed it…ESPN experts predicting how many more wins, IF ANY, the Celtics will have in the playoffs.
Once again, it’s all about Lebron and has absolutely nothing to do with the play of the Boston Celtics.
Doc should have this piece blown up and hanging in the locker room, in every stall, on every mirror.

I was just coming here to post this same thing. I agree the Magic look amazing, but last year they went to 7 games without KG, plus Rondo’s much better this year. But now the Magic are going to win in 5 or 6?
Don’t tell me “Yeah, well Nelson was missing and now he’s playing amazing.” because he was being guarded by Bibby and he’s such a nobody I don’t even know Charlotte’s PG. Let Nelson face first team All-Defense Rondo plus the Cs team defense as a whole plus expend energy actually defending a top PG for a change. And remember Vince shrinks, Lewis is going to face KG and instead of BBD and oh yeah Perk doesn’t need double team help on Howard which eliminates a lot of the gimme 3s and drives the Magic get.
Again, the Magic are tough, but again already people are saying the Cs have no chance. Where have I heard this before?

I like Broussard who says the Cs won’t win any more games, unless they do, in which case they’ll go to the finals. And that’s the ONLY guy who has us beating the Magic. Has nobody seen how the Cs play Orlando? Or what Perk does to Howard? Or seen Vince Carter play a physical team?

These experts have no sense and just toe the line. Except Abbot who called himself out as a fraud…
“But … you’re asking me? I picked but one sweep in the second round, and it was the only series that was not a sweep. And it gets worse. The sweep I picked was Cleveland over Boston.”
For owning up Abbott should remain a “wrong” on the prediction screen shot instead of “Epic Fail”…or may be not.

Oh yeah and check out Stein predicting Boston to win three or four more AND in the next question predicting three or four more for Cleveland. This is ESPN’s brain trust?!? Brain fart is more like it…

I’m probably the only one from Wyoming who beleived in the Celtics and their ability to beat the Cavs. After this series I beleive they can beat Orlando and who ever comes out of the west, I’m thinking Phoenix.
