Your Morning Dump… Where TA lives

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

"Well, I just look at it like we've got a quiet assassin and whenever
you all want to unleash him, he's going to be ready," Allen said after
pouncing off the pine to score 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and play 20
high-energy minutes in a 113-99 triumph over the
Denver Nuggets
on Wednesday.

"Basically, I've been listening to the coaches," said Allen. "'Stay
ready, stay ready, stay ready.' That's what I've been doing,
conditioning my body, working on my game with the coaches and strength
coach. Today was a day my number got called and I took advantage."

ESPN Boston – Allen ready when opportunity knocked

Vintage TA. Just when you count him out, he'll stun you with a vicious one-handed jam or suffocating defense. But last night's performance goes against TA tradition. He generally needs time to find a groove when returning from an injury or Doc's doghouse.

How about KG's performance? 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Was last night another Hot Tub Time Machine moment? As my father-in-law kept repeating during the game, Garnett looked active. He's come a long way in the past few months.

On Page 2, the little known rule that puts the Celtics ahead of the Hawks.

The Celtics are tied with the Hawks for third place in the East, but
technically Boston is up a game, even though Atlanta swept the season

As a division leader, the Celtics
hold the first tiebreaker over Atlanta, which defeated Orlando, 86-84,
last night. Meaning, the Hawks have to be a game better than the Celtics
at season’s end to finish third.

It’s a system that even Celtics coach Doc
wasn’t aware of until a few days ago.

“I didn’t even pay attention to it,’’ he
said. “I actually did think if we tied, Atlanta would get it. I think Danny
[Ainge] called me and he said, ‘Did you
know?’ I said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘I didn’t either.’ No one knew.’’

Globe – Plenty riding on Celtics play

3 is key. The Celtics would avoid the Bucks in the 1st round and the Cavaliers in the 2nd round. While the players will never say publicly they'd rather play one team over another, it's all about carving out the easiest road possible.

Why theres no ta on that mf banner of yours?

  • iggy

TA is wearing an Eddie House mask in the banner

  • If TA plays this way then its a huge bonus for us in the playoffs. Anyone else thinks JR SMith’s tatoos are stupid?

  • CFH

    Dear Tony,
Remember how during the preseason I said the Celtics should give your roster spot to Mike Sweetney?
    Yeah, my bad.

  • Alex

Dude, every Denver player has stupid tattoos. I believe I saw Carmelo with a Warners Bro. logo on his chest… are you kidding me?

  • MikeintheNE

Alex – the Melo tattoo is WB for West Baltimore. Only reason I know this is because I’m street.
TA looked great but I don’t see the KG Time Machine. I thought he was limping around and had a lot of troulbe finishing around the basket. The drive at the end of the game from the stripe really showed that.

  • TA is alive! When Pierce picked up that 3rd foul, I was a little worried about TA coming in. I’m sure a lot of people felt that way and thought the lead would slip away. If this is the real deal with Tony, he could provide that crucial relief and explosiveness off the bench that we were looking for just in time for the playoffs.
No doubt that the tattoo’s on the Denver players are ridiculous. I don’t care if Melo’s tattoo means West Baltimore, street or not, it’s still the Warner Brothers logo.

  • Orb

I saw that last night and looked it up. If you think ‘Melo is tough it means “warn-a-brotha.” If you’re ambivalent, it means West Baltimore. If you hate ‘Melo it’s “WannaBe” or “Women’s Basketball.” If you’re a goof, it’s really the WB, and it’s because he loves the Animaniacs. I just thought it was a dumb tattoo to get.

  • I agree with your father in law. KG looked pretty good, moved his feet well on D. Rondo was hot as hell and holy TA!

  • OMG LMAO hahahaha
man that just made my day. Warners Bro. haha

  • The Truth is Here

Earl Smith actually has a giant neck tattoo of the hip hop entourage that he just joined “young money” right on his adam’s apple. Not for me…

  • The Truth is Here

The only thing about KG last night was that he looked tentative close to the rim. He wasn’t really finishing, but I guess one thing at a time, happy to see him jumping around and putting his nose into everything.

  • Orb

Don’t forget the NY on there too. Still nicer than “Quis’ cartoon of a guy blowing his brains out with a shotgun. Although it probably looks pretty good when he’s wearing his diamond-encrusted shrunken head.

  • MikeintheNE

Agree the tattoos are all stupid but the WB thing is something I’m not touching. Have you seen the Wire? Surprised with Nate Robinson – takes some bad shots but instant energy and can score the ball.

  • Danno

tattoos in general are stupid. It was one thing when it was just outlaws, bikers, punkers etc. had them. Now every idiot Abercrombie wearing frat boy douche has a “tribal” armband or some other retarded nonsense. It became such a lame bandwagon fad it’s not funny.
On a lighter note, TA has been consistent pretty much all year. Guys like him and Big Baby play MUCH better when they have competition for their minutes from guys like Quis, Finley, and Shelden. They played like crap when they knew they had guaranteed minutes.

  • Yeah… stupid fucking tattoos.

  • I initially left him out because he was getting no burn and…. frankly… I didn’t want him there.
Now he’s playing well so I’m leaving him off out of silly superstition.

KG was weak on certain offensive plays, but very strong on D and running the court. My conclusion is that his problem is not physical, but that he may be avoiding jumping too high and fighting too hard in crowds… in order to minimize his risk of injury. (I’d certainly agree with the goal.)

Agreed about the tats – went for a swim the other day and me and my mate were the only guys there without them….then there were the ladies….:l
