Rondo impresses

RedsArmyAdmin March 20, 2010 Uncategorized 4 Comments

The two
years they shared at Kentucky were enough for Rockets center Chuck
Hayes to be impressed by Boston's Rajon Rondo, but not enough to expect
the improvement to an All-Star point guard.

“In
college, he was the fastest guy I ever guarded, saw or played with,”
Hayes said. “I didn't think he'd be this good. I knew he would be good,
but an All-Star?

“Man, I
am happy for him. I'm impressed how much he's worked on his game. How
much he's matured. He gets it.

“He
gets what it takes.”

Houston Chronicle – Rondo challenges Brooks at point

Did anyone know he'd be this good?

Maybe Danny Ainge did.  Maybe he was one of few.

We know now, though.

can you imagine what rondo can be if he can knock down the three like he did in the horse competition?
When big threes are done he’ll be averaging 20+ points every night

I think what we saw from Rondo last night was a glimpse of what he has in store for us in the playoffs. That’s clear now. Throughout the regular season, he’s been, you could say, experimenting with his game… trying different things out, sometimes not paying much attention, getting by, but almost never really going all-out. Last night, it seemed he went all-out. He did NOT stop running around after Brooks the whole time he was out there.
And when he left, Nate did the same thing! How great was that?! Talk about a great pickup. Can you even imagine Eddie doing that? Laughable.
I think this whole team is now gearing up for the playoffs (even Sheed!), and we are finally seeing what they can do. It might not be there in every game in what’s left of this regular season, but we’ll see more and more of it. And then when the playoffs actually do arrive — we’ll probably see yet ANOTHER level, their best one, which we’ve rarely seen, if ever. I’m thinking that’s going to be a thing of beauty.
There’s (obviously) a lot of talent in this league, and some great teams. But none can reach the level that these Celtics can reach — and I’m not talking about raw physical talent, because there are lots of guys, and teams, with more of that than the Celtics have — but in terms of smarts: the understanding and ability to play this game at the team level that is so advanced and so great that no other team can match it.

:) I sure hope you are right about this team and its projected performance in the playoffs! We’ll need it to beat orlando and cleveland

I knew Rondo would be this good. Buy I admit my bias for all Kentucky players.
